My buddy has a 2013 with 800 miles on it and a sticker of $271.5. What should I be considering to offer him?

I assume its a coupe. Depends on the options and MSRP. That may be a fair price or to high depending.

He's your "buddy." Pay what he paid less $2 per mile.

As good as any figure. You know what he paid, you know the car, and you know him. Respectfully and (really) not being sarcastic, if he is your "buddy" discuss with him, not us. Best

Yeah he's a friend I have done work with in the past. It's a 458 coupe sorry for not adding that. He told me to try and come up with a number. I know that he already has a figure in his head I was thinking to offer $250-255. I asked what it would take to get him out of it but he went off on a story so I'm not sure. I drove it last Sunday with him and I need the car haha. I sold my 430 spider a few years back and have been without a toy ever since. It's in my blood I need to have the car. Thanks for the responses

Do you think it would be fair for me to offer somewhere in the $250 range? Let me know what you guys would offer. Thanks, Nick

That's the sticker with all the options it has, brand new it totaled $271.5. Not sure if that's exactly what he payed or not because I don't believe he ordered it. I think he bought it from FerrariNe but I'm not entirely sure

Its Rosso Corsa with matching calipers and the 20" silver sport wheels. It has the paint between the fins on the front bumper as well. Scuderia shields. The interior has the racing seats with red stitching and a red stripe up the seats. No carbon in the car. Its nero interior. Thats all I can recall. Not many options but I like what he did with the options he used. Thanks

Why "negotiate with yourself". Whatever he asks, offer the amount you are comfortable with and see what happens. We are all guessing and often a deal depends on "who" as much as "what" characterizes the transaction. Best

If the MSRP is $271.5K and assuming that he added nothing else to the cost (ie. aftermarket 3M wrap, etc.) then I'd say you are getting a reasonable and fair deal for such an incredibly low mileage 1 owner 2013 car if you just pay your buddy what he paid. If you like the cars options and color combo. and considering you will forgo a 9-18 month wait for a new steed and you still have approx. 2 years left on a new car warranty I think paying him the $271.5K is reasonable. If the car had 5K-6K miles on her I could see a 10K-15K discount on that number. The plain truth is that despite what many characterize as a soft 458 market the cheapest 2013 458 Italia for sale seems to an example with approx. 600 miles on her and an ask of $284K (from a dealer). If you can find a 2013 with 800 miles on her for less than $271.5K buy it.

Ok thank you. He actually does have the 3M wrap not that it makes a big difference in price or anything. It's tasteful, I like it the car a lot. He said a dealer in Ohio wants it for $260k but he added that he knows that they have to make money. So I dont know if he expects me to offer more than that. I dont think I will. Im going to speak with him tomorrow and hopefully make a deal.

$260K seems reasonable assuming the options and color scheme are what you would order. Do you have to pay sales tax on your private car purchase? If not, I would jump on your friend's offer.

2013 is more expensive on the open market than MSRP. Your friend can get $20k-$40k over sticker today (depending on how tastefully optioned is the car, and assuming there is not too much carbon in there making MSRP way above standard price).

I have few friends that I would give $20k-$40k as a gift.

I think something close to what he paid is fair.

For the record a full 3M package by Detailing Dynamics in Mineola, NY cost me approx. $5K. Not saying that it makes the $271.5K car worth $276.5K, but it certainly is a very practical and useful add-on (particularly if you use your 458 as a DD like me). Like I said, if you paid him $271.5K its reasonable. IMHO at $260K your getting a damn good deal as its a 2013 model. Do your research and see if there is ANY 2013 for sale that you can buy for $271.5K (regardless of mileage).
