    Just for fun, how much would you pay or value this car? Let's just say F355 with:
    (a) a blown engine, everything else is in good condition
    (b) a blown engine and transmission is in questionable condition, everything else is in good condition

    (a) a blown engine, everything else is in good condition--$5000
    (b) a blown engine and transmission is in questionable condition, everything else is in good condition $-10000

    in (a) above, after you put in mid-$30K for a new engine you have a $40K car.
    in (b) above, after you put in low-$50K you have a $40K car.

    Wait, you pay less ($5k) for a car that has a good transmission? while paying more ($10k) for a car that needs engine & transmission? Shouldn't that be reversed?

    You could probably part the car out and get $30-$40K in parts...

    He was saying:
    (a): $5,000
    (b): ($10,000) as in negative $10k.

    If I was looking I would be in the $15-20K range. I would ship it to a good independent for a full rebuild with performance head work.

    Just for the clarification, both engine/transmission are dead, no option to repair but replace.

    Meaning there are ZERO good parts? The engine and trans cannot be rebuilt?

    My colleague Mike did that with a F355 Spider (95). Blown engine, but decent transmission. I basically *gave* him all the parts to get it running again, and believe me, it was a financially losing proposition from the word "go".
