Not wash but total wax polish to make it shinny.... I sure wish I could have it wax every time just before I drive mine out. Finally, I have these guys at Auto wax come in to my garage and do wax and polish my cars one day every first week of the months... niceeee.

Whenever it goes into the shop they wash it. That is good enough for me.

I use paste wax once a year. Spray detailer almost every time I drive it. True polish only when necessary - haven't had to do it yet, so far have very few scratches.

Generally do the full polish and exterior detailing about 2-3X per year. Wash about once a month. It is otherwise always in the garage with the door shut, so it never looks like it needs a washing. I use Zaino polish which is supposed to last much monger than the tradition carnuba type waxes.

So far once a year for the full clay/wax; rinse it once a month. It helps to live in San Diego where the car doesn't get rained or snowed on. I'll definitely have it done again before the next concours.

IMO, it's best not to rub/buff the paint any more than necessary.

To polish my car is therapy. So I probably do it more than the car needs it. I do enjoy the results.

When you say polish, do you mean 'wax', or really 'polish'? There is a lot of misuse of the terms, even among reputable vendors.

Polish means using an abrasive on the paint to remove the top layer of clearcoast, smoothing it and removing any scratches, paint contamination, water spots, and other things that have damaged it. In general, polishing just cleans the paint, instead of protecting it.

Wax means applying some kind of sealant that remains on the paint, making it look shiny and protecting it from dirt. Waxing is non-abrasive.

Zaino is really just a wax, not a polish. Except for their Z-PC product, which actually is a polish.

Personally, I polish my car once each year, at the beginning of the summer. I wax with a few coats of Zaino every month until Fall - and that's usually enough to last until next summer.

Zaino web site refers to their products as 'polish'. I beleive the best write up about these topics was done by sunny. I will try to find the thread.
    Edit:
Here is the thread with Sunny's (JaguarXJ6) detailing instructions (still looking for the wax comparo):

I have a complete detail done every 3-4 months. They strip everything that has been applied off and start from scratch each time. I usually do a detail spray (Griots Detail Spray) after every couple of drives. In the summer, I might do a detail wipe down after every drive due to the number of bugs that accumulate.

The 355 gets done every 3-4 months. Pretty easy because it's so small. The motor coach on the other hand...........PITA!

I do a thorough waxing once a year, original 22 year old paint needs tender loving care, I don't know how many microns are left.
Still shines like new, due to loving PO's along the way.
