I'm 30 and will before the end of 07.

Oh, I have been wanting one since I was 8 so I've been waiting a long time and was wondering if I am a late bloomer. My brother would kid me because as a kid i said i'd get one without an engine so I could afford it.

I could swing a nicer 308, mid quality 328 and a lower quality/high milage 348 or TR -50k miles or more. I think the fun factor choice is the 308/328 with the 348 being fun as well but, too many greeblies and gremlins with the electrics i hear. I would love the TR as a grand touring machine with the musical V12 but how good will a $40-$55k TR be? Will it require $15k of service inside of 3 years? I dunno.

if you lose the rear differential a Testarossa may cost you 15K in 1 day.... I don't mean to be a pessimist, but also consider what car you can afford to keep running.

The F40 in the pic? Lucky! I would say the TR is my dream..well the one within reason.

I love the F40 and every year at limerock park in CT i see some guy blasting around the track in his F40 eating up all of the other Ferraris. What a soound from the turbos and the engine.

True..I've been spending a lot of time in the TR/BBi forum. I can deal with the service costs but the catastrophic failures would probably kill me. the Diff or gearbox. Ugh!

I bought my first Ferrari, a 1986 328GTS, for cash from FAF in 1992...I was 35 years old. My salesman was Fred Repass and Steve Alhgrim was the sales manager. The day I bought it I had to pick my 13 year old daughter up at the mall and when I got there she had one of her friends with her...so, they both squeezed into the passenger seat and off we went.

36, I agree with the above post, buy what you can afford to fix, nothing sucks more than a beautiful car in the garage you can't drive

328/348 are about the same price. TR isn't much more, but service costs on the 12 are stiff.

As long as you can afford to write four-figure service checks for service without flinching, go for it.

I was fortunate enough to buy my 1st Ferrari at 25yrs old. I want a 308 and can get one in around 2-3 years. If I decide to get one. If I dont, I will wait another 5-8years and get a 360CS or 430. :) See what happens. ;)

BTW.........this has been discussed here before. Last time, some young fella piped up and mentioned he owns a 360CS and is 20-21yrs old by memory. :)

I was a young 53 last year when I bought my 308qv. Everyone should buy a Ferrari, it retards the aging process.
I still remember the comment from my Sister when I told her I was looking to buy one, she said "Ya right , your're buying a Ferrari". (everyone assumes they cost $100k or more)
