Just thought I'd start this thread if anyone has any fun stories they would like to share! The first Ferrari I drove was a short drive in a silver California, I was 16. Drove a 430 Scud, 599 and a few other F's later that year too. Very privileged to be able to have briefly tried these cars in such a young age. Although at the time you really can't possibly appreciate the technology and performance, because your experience is so limited. You don't understand how extreme it is because you don't have too much to put it into context with...
25. Rented a 348 Spider in Vegas many years ago for 24 hours. It was then I understood what it was like to be a rockstar.
my dads 400i when i was 17. told my dad, what an honour it was for me. that was on our way on the autostrada milan-venice. remember it like yesterday (was 28 years ago- wow...) ; maybe i will find a picture, then ill post it
I was 37 and it was a 308 GTB chassis #27009. I was priveleged to have the chance to drive it a short distance via a dealer when I was living in Belgium. I was VERY careful with it as it scared me to death being behind the wheel of my dream car. PDG
I was 45 and my first drive happenned when I took delivery of my 512TR. Kind of like those mail-order brides, and I couldn't be happier!
I was 33 when I drove and bought my first Ferrari. It was my very own newly spec'd and delivered 328 GTSi QV.
I was 34 and Ralph Cistero from FOW took me on an amazing ride in a 360 and we switched after a few miles. Such a great guy.
I was 35 and rented a 430 spider outside the factory in Maranello. I'd waited so long to drive a Ferrari, and here I was, in Maranello of all places, driving a Ferrari for the first time. I was half-terrified for the first few minutes, to be honest. First time in Europe, first time in Italy, first time at the Mille Miglia, first time in Maranello and first time driving a Ferrari, on a beautiful spring day.
At 43, three years ago about now. Bought a 2002 360 spider in TDF blue from Ferrari of Washington. Had never even heard one running close by before bringing it home. I'd been out of sports cars for 8 years after a very serious accident, business was good, what better to re-enter the fray than a Ferrari.
I remember it well. I was 25 and at Charlotte Motor Speedway (around 20 years ago). A local sportscar club had a track day I attended in my 911 S/C I believe. A professor at the event brought his Ferrari Mondial Coupe & his Mangusa. He gauged my interest & asked which one I wanted to drive. I chose the Ferrari. I was super respectful and appreciative. I listened to every little detail he spoke of. I even have some video footage of it (taken on a camera as large as an end table). It meant a lot to me. I wish he could see me now, as he had a lot to do with my Ferrari fetish.
1988. I was 18 and rented a 1984 306Quattrovalvole from a rental place in Waikiki. Took it around the island, cost me $500 and did a mock video of the Magnum PI opening in front of the Robins Nest mansion. Sure wish I could find that videotape!
38 years old. 348 Spider. Four years ago. My business partner bought it that day. When he arrived at our shop he tossed me the keys. Quite a bit of trust there.
17, 360 Spider. Driving a Ferrari for the first time was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I'll never forget it.
24. I just finished the 2 year restoration of my 246 Dino Gt. When I bought it, it was a basket case non-running vehicle. I was never so nervous in my life. I still remember it.
1959 Ferrari TR 250 factory race car Tr0768. I bought this car in 1965 and I was 22 years old. The first time I fired it up was breath taking, the sound and vibration was incredible. I remember slipping it in gear and heading down the road for the first time, and my heart was thumping and the sweat running off my brow. Still remember like it was yesterday.
