I'm in the market for a new DD, and the Maserati Coupe is one of the cars I'm looking at, amongst M3, S4, E55, RS6, and the G37. I really love the Maserati, but I have concerns about reliability. Can the car hold up to daily driving? I do about 12k miles a year, give or take. How about winter use? Can I get away with just the Maserati, or would I be better off picking up a second beater for the winter?
I use mine as a DD. I have only had it 3 months but no issues other than a broken fuel cap that cause a CEL. Fixed under warranty in about 30 minutes at the dealer. I bought the car with 3900 miles and it currently has 7700, so I am on track to do about 12k miles per year. So far it has been great. I can put the baby in the back seat and my golf clubs in the trunk, what else could I ask for. I may change my tune after time, but you do not buy Italian cars for the reliability. For what I spent on this car, I would not have anything else. Good luck.
126k km on my first-one (CC), with 3 winters (I live in Switzerland, I use Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2 Winter Tires). 100k km on my actual (GT), with 1 winter. Never had any problem, I used them with my 3 kids, on the track, for the week-end, for daily driving... Today I used my GT only on the track and for inspired driving because 50k km a year on this kind of car is a bit expensive for me. But for 12k miles a year, I would immediatly use only my GT. BTW I still have my original clutch on my GT ! Go for it !
I have two friends who used coupes as daily drivers... well, their wives used them and they both had one kid that was in the car all the time. Neither one of them had any complaints about using a Maserati on a daily basis, even when toting kids around in it. I have no doubt that it'd make a great dd. I was actually going to buy one of their cars this past spring and it would have been my daily driver also except that my wife didn't really care for the particular car I wanted (it was red and she didn't like that color on it at all) and I figured that I'd have to sell it by October because I wouldn't want to drive it through the winter. I'm sure you could if you really wanted to but I wouldn't have wanted to. I think the cars are very comfortable, have plenty of room (for the type of car they are) and I don't think I'd ever get sick of hearing that exhaust note (especially with a Tubi!), plus you can easily fit a couple golf bags in them (one in the trunk, one in the backseat)! I ended up buying an '07 Audi S4 instead (my 4th one), mostly because of the known. I already knew they were great cars, they can obviously be used year round and in that price range I couldn't think of a better dd. You have good performance, a great interior, awd, good looks and it's a very safe car. My last '04 got rear ended by a Dodge Ram w/ my 2 yr old in the back seat and we were both fine. The car didn't fair as well but it did its job and that's one of the main reasons that I ended up with another one. On that note, I have severe car ADD and it's now for sale w/ 5k miles on it. I think I'm going to replace it with either a larger sedan or some type of SUV and try to add another sports car to the mix next summer. So if you decide against a Maserati (which would be tough) and are interested in a perfect S4, let me know.

Relatively new to this forum...I just bought a new ($132 miles) '06 GranSport coupe (pic attached). I had also considered an Audi RS4, and Porsche 911. I've been (and will continue to be) an Audi fan; used to own one of the bi-turbo S4s. I live in San Diego, so "bad weather" isn't a consideration (had it been, I probably would have bought the RS4). I ended up picking the G'Sport because -- get this -- it has the most rear passenger room of the three cars I considered! I expected the 911 would be the smallest, however despite 4 doors, the RS4 has a smaller rear seat than the G'Sport. I have 2 kids so a four seater was a must. I'm your average wage earner, so I also saw buying the G'Sport as perhaps my one and only chance to own an exotic. I researched it a bit -- heard about all the problems of the early product vehicles. My '06 was one of the very last G'Sports produced -- Ferrari & Maserati of San Diego verified this for me -- and its been trouble free so far. Plus I think I got a good deal on it $80 K (MSRP was $112K) with a full 4-yr warranty. At $80K, it was within $6K of a new RS4, and same price as a new 911. As far as costs go, just factor in extra $$$ for a new clutch at around 12 - 15K miles (per my service center). Oh yeah, and the tires are about $450 each! Finally, rumor has it that Maserati may offer some sort of extended warranty that can be purchased so long as your vehicle is in "good condition" and still within the original warranty period. I'm not an owner, so I can't tell you about maintenance, but I do see them enough to know they're daily driven around Seattle... ...in the rain. So that must mean they're worth driving. -Colin
It's very realistic, I drove mine everyday UNLESS it snowed, the car is not safe to drive in the snow IMO. Very reliable, very comfortable, and very fun.
