If you were able to really read what I was saying, it is actually quite simple....maybe too simple?? if you choose to understand the truth of the words rather than a "beating off" from a self centered pont of view....... beauty is in the eye of the beholder ugly and pretty are personal prefference, not social agreement. what you "bang" is your business, what I make love to and with is mine. I have no right to say what you choose is wrong and I have the right for you not to impose your set of asthetics on my choices as does everyone else (have that right). It's an old philosophy...live and let live. Think and believe what you will, but you have no authority to preach. If you don't understand that, you have a lot of growing to do. jd your choices........ your values...... and really...WHO CARES
This looks like a fairly accurate recitation of the facts of this thread.... And seems to be failry common on MOST of the car forums.... "Is it fast?" "FASTEST CAR EVER!" "No its not....XY&Z are faster..." "That may be true, but youre an A**HOLE for pointing it out!"
To get back to the discussion on the 355, here is my take. I owned a 95 355B for about 5 years, it was later sold to someone on this board that Dyno'ed and it had some very high HP for a 355. Prior to the 355 I had a NSX and a C5 Corvette. Although the C5 had more lower end grunt and the NSX seemed a bit slower, the 355 was "Magic". Once it was warmed up and the gearbox and brakes had about 10 miles from starting, it was so much fun. The sound, the feel (granted at higher RPM's), and that special interior made it very enjoyable. I never got tired at looking at it either. It was my first Ferrari and I regret selling it since that time. No it is not the fastest car anymore, but for its day it held its own and brought Ferrari back into the marketplace with a desirable car. After the 355, I bought a 360 Spider, and although the Torque was nicer, it didn't have the intimate feel of the 355 nor the Go Kart like reflexes. However, after driving a CS, that gives more of that kind of response. Sorry about the long winded Post, just trying to steer this thread back to what the original person had intended.
The F355 is still a quick car, but you must keep the revs up. Most people don't know how to drive it and keep the car in the 3-4000rpm range. Try keeping the car in the 6000 and above range on a twist road and tell me that it is not quick. Rev the engine to 5000rpm and let it out in first gear and say it is not quick. I have had a 600hp Pantera and a modified Viper coupe and 930 turbo and TR. It would not beat those in a staight line, except the TR. but on a tight road course or mountain roads. the combo of brakes handling and power would keep up with most cars.
Please remember that everything is relative. Is it as fast as a Gallardo? No. Is it as fast as a rocket ship or a top fuel dragster? No. Is it as fast as other "fast" cars of it's day? Absolutely. Tobias' original question was whether it had enough oomph to sink you back into the seat and the answer is yes. I have not heard ONE person say that it is THE fastest car ever, they only said basically what I just said, so why are we arguing over this? It is a fast car that is happiest in the upper RPM range and has a glorious sound. In the lower RPM range, it is a bit lacking, but far from disappointing. The question was answered (correctly) by posts # 2 & 3 with a lot of others spot on as well. Everything else is a matter of opinion, case closed.
I've skipped over a lot of this thread but the only thing I hear is being talked about is acceleration. Has anyone mentioned how AWESOME this car is when you throw it into a curve and mash down on the accelerator? Yeah, build quality isn't the best , but has it ever been? Bang for the buck, one of the best cars I've ever had. And to be fair, it is in the eyes of the beholder, but I think an appropriate look at a time when they were moving from the squared off lines of the 348 more towards the 360.
no offense to the "troll" BUT if you look at the performance numbers on the 355 its equivalent to the numbers on an 05; M3 and its by no means a slouch...its not a lambo but its quick and agile. Im in the market for a 355 I could afford a 360 but the styling is more timeless and speed is just a number. to say your car is faster than mine is like saying my lolipop is better than yours. eventually the speed gets you in trouble....Ferraris are about the driving experience not the speed. If you want speed go buy a zo6 or a viper. Leonard
I love this whole talk of " THE EXPERIENCE" . I just dont see it. I mean, maybe you guys consider driving an underpowered car with a dancing donkey badge an experience, but I dont. There is no special feel, no magical aura, and the only thing that tickles your ass are the shakes and creaks from the suspension.
For someone whos owned serveral exotics, your an ignorant ****tard. Oh and yea, I am a student with a CS kthnxbye
your opinion means nothing to anyone other than yourself. You know darn well where you should keep it. Why do you enjoy being an irritant? Does if make you happy? No wonder you were once banned from this forum. You really really have no business here. JD
You mean daddy has one. Anyways, 360CS is a pretty decent car. Still kinda slow, but much better than a 355.
Underpowered?? Creaks and shakes?? Poor build quality ect...ect.. Man,are you sure that YOUR 355 wasnt as immaculate as you make it out to be? Well, maybe immaculate, looks pretty, but underpowerd and shakes ect... maybe you bought a lemon??? A poor example of a 355. Did you ever drive anyone elses to compare the 2 by any chance? Just wondering thats all. Please dont yell at me

To all Ferrari lovers here (including myself) : TO EACH HIS OWN. Some people are just not going to like Ferraris, and that is perfectly fine. To GSpyder: I actually agree with a lot of what you have to say, but you shouldn't come to FERRARICHAT to say that Ferraris are cr@p, that's just wrong. Anyway, break over, let the punches continue!
