I am considering this car in trade with my Mb G500 w/ 28k miles. The G is showing its unreliability but how bad is the Porsche Turbo??

    BTW, Its not CPO.

CPO is a waste of money......a good PPI is all you need. At 26K miles the Cayenne should have had, or will need, new brake pads/rotors/tires....but otherwise, they are bulletproof IMHO. I've sold over 100.

Buy the V6....it's an SUV after all, so the engine really does has enough power.........however, 700km range out of a tank of gas was what impressed me the most.

Some cars really call for CPO, other less. I'd have put the 996TT in the "less" category, though!

I wouldn't worry about getting a 60k mile Cayenne, let alone 27k! I'd insist on the Turbo, though :p

What do people consider high/usefull miles...???

28K is barley a 2 year old vehicle IMO.

I've had my new Dodge truck for 9 months and have 15K on the clock....in the next 15K the thing won't even be broken in....

I put 130K miles on a 88 Ford Mustang GT (ford...not the epitome of world class engeneering)...changed oil/fluids but other than that didn't have one major breakdown or major repair bill. I actually don't recall changing brake rotors on that car....

My wife drove a 96 Camry for 140K miles and other than rotors, belts/hoses, it ran like a top and will for another 100K miles...

    Had an....

Mileage as a determination of value is used only by those who have no other knowledge....

    MamboDave.......

I would not CPO a Cayenne based on my first hand experience..........nor probably would I CPO a 996TT.

But my risk tolerance is different than most obviously, being as I get parts at dealer cost and my labor is cheaper too. FWIW....I warranty all Porsches I sell, regardless of year or model, for 12 months or 12000 kms.....no questions asked....out of my own pocket. I do not underwrite warranties from outside companies. They are that good.

What on earth happened to yours to cost PCNA 15K ?

Depends, some times it's useful to cover big items failing on a regular basis. From what I've read on the interwebs (must be true, then :D), Audis A6 don't have the most reliable of transmission, especially when you get a bunch of miles (100k +) ... if I were to buy an A6 with 80k on the clock, I'd make sure it's CPO'd. And I'm mechanically inclined.

As to useful miles for used cars.

    <40k = low miles not a worry
40k<80k = not much to worry about yet, just have to make sure I won't keep it long enough to top 100k miles (tougher to sell)
80k<100k = too many miles (for resale purposes)
    >100k = that's mechanical issues waiting for you. Won't buy. Unless it's a Toyota.

There again, my truck has close to 130k and still fires up everyday. It's a piece of crap, but it runs.

I have about 18k miles on my 2006 "S" and I've not had one problem. IMO, they are the best SUV's on the market. :)
