I saw a 250 GTO replica on ebay and the only thing that is making me wince about this car is the fact that it has a 383 stroker in it. Despite that being a sin in it's own, how sacriligious would it be to pick a replica up and drop a V12 from a 400i or 412i into there?

I wouldn't do it. You'll always have to explain...

My husband bought a replica Lambo (just liking Lambos is sacriligious IMO) with an excellent paint job, but the interior sucked (pleather) and don't get me started on how the engine sounded..... I talked him into his senses and he sold it.

    OMG!

    What would Enzo say?

IMVHO the fun of owning a Ferrari is owning a REAL Ferrari.

Would rather own the cheapest Fcar than a replica. People who buy replicas never go to heaven and are condemned to eternal immortal damnation. Other than that, go for it!

If you can't afford the real thing forget about it. It's like owning a fake Birkin or a Rolex/Patek.

Some people do it anyway. I think it's pretty cheesy.

I've heard of a guy who owns a 250 California and he insists it's the real deal, but some professional car dealers say the opposite....... Who do we believe! Who cares...... as long as he's happy and drives a "Ferrari".

Some of these replicas aka tribute cars are pretty well done and largely with Ferrari parts. That's pretty cool. In fact rumor has it that there are more than a few owners of these cars with replicas as drivers. Same with TR's.

Personally, a replica that is done well to me is just as nice if it promises a similar driving experience. No V-8's, no modern conveniences and no updated technology. Of course, if this is what you crave, there are many affordable alternatives from the era that will give you the same rush.
