    I am contemplating selling my 1989 328 GTS which is located in MA. Unfortunately, I have less and less time to drive it and firmly believe if I can't fully enjoy it, someone else should. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how best advertise the car without getting a bunch of yahoos looking for a free ride? I will advertise on FerrariChat, but any comments on listing on-line or in newspapers...ie, Boston papers, NY Times, etc..
    Cheers. SML

    Despite what people tell you, put it on E-bay. Where else can you get that kind of exposure for such cheap money. When I was searching for my first Ferrari I used E-Bay, Cars.com and Autotrader.com. Dupont Registry and the other publications like those were priced way too high.

    I have heard conflicting opinions on Ebay, but I would guess the "risk" is on the buyer and not so much on the seller. I've searched many sites re: a "fair" price for my car, but still unsure...the range is great for 328s, even from FChat members...from $40k-70k. I fully understand many variables determine price, but what would you determine a "fair" price for a red/tan 1989 328 GTS with 27.5k miles, major just done last year (700 miles ago)..excellent condition inside/out, all original (x-cd/radio)

    What you really need to find out is what they are actually selling for. Not what they are listed for. Very few cars sell for the asking price. Many way below it. What did you pay for it? How long have you had it? did you think you got a fair price when you bought it? If is only been a few years, then the price you paid may very well be a good starting point. IF your price it too high nobody will even look at it. Too low and the same results. I personally think 70K is way too high. think of the other model Ferrari's you can get in that price range. $40Kto 50K seems more reasonble to me but I am no Professional. I just purchased a 90 348 TS with 24K for 49k in near perfect condition.

    A 70 K 328 would be a sub 2000 mile 1989 that just had all the service needed for a car that basically just sat around for most of its life :-}
    From what I have seen a 89 with 27.5 K miles that just had its service done can be purchased in the 50 - 55 K range.

    I just sold my 328 and I put it on consignment with a dealer in the area. I attempted to sell it on my own, but after all the BS, stupid questions and a bogus check it was well worth the consignment fee. The dealer would only deal with qualified buyers and he sold the car fast and actually got more for the car then I was originally asking. The dealer handled all the paperwork and advertising for me.

    Ad in the Fchat for sale, Want Advertiser & cars.com, if it doesn't turn something up in a few weeks, then think about eBAY.

    Don't expect to sell it right away, may take a month or three for the right buyer to spot the ad.

    I agree that the asking price & actual selling price are often very different. I just looked at the NADA web site to see what they have for this area. Their prices are based on actual sales, not asking prices. Here's what I got:

    Low Retail Average Retail High Retail

    $31,500 $40,300 $54,100

    Don't trust Kelly Blue Book figures, they seem to always be 10% to 20% high for cars in MA.

    NADA seems quite low on the values.
    I would not use that alone as an indicator .
