Lovely advert to buy the above on E-bay.For the 550 it mentions that you should listen to the engine whilst running for "tapping" sound,as this is indictive that the tappets have not been adjusted!Bit trickey when they are hydraulic and the "ticking" is the injectors!

Even if they did have solid followers (like the 328) the gaps close up with use so would get quieter if they need adjustment. IMO most of the guides/manuals on ebay are either rubbish or available free elsewhere. Like all the stuff that people put on that you can just order new from the manufacturer cheaper - trying to get money for nothing.

Wish my old MKIII tina's pinto engine would of done that, spent my youth adjusting them :D. They were really crappy as the holes in the oil feeder were too small on the early ones, but I had to adjust them every service to stop the blasted tapping.

MKIII Cortinas - now you are talking. I spent hours (edit days & weeks...) hacking 'round Essex in my mates 2000GXL - Gun Metal grey with a black vinyl roof. It looked the nuts - I always thought the dash was good too: several of the dials being 'frenched' in. I can still remember the registration NME 340L - and that was 20 years ago, maybe my memory isn't crap after all...
