    Hey all,

Am about to put new Magnecor wires in my car and was wondering if there is a way to confirm that the set screw in the cap is making good contact with the wire core. I assume probably a check with a multimeter should do it? Roughly what ohm range should I expect to see?

    Cheers,

Someone said to fold the core back over the wire a bit, so when its inserted into the hole correctly, the folded over core will be the first thing the screw penetrates. Either way, make sure the wire is fully bottomed in the hole before screwing it down, and make sure its screwed down solidly. I dont know the ohms per foot of resistance wire, but as long as you have continuity it should hold.

One easy way of checking wire continuity is with an induction timing light. Clip the induction pickup over each wire with the engine running. You should get a steady flashing strobe on each wire. If a wire is bad, either because of a bad connection on the cap or a problem in the wire, or with the spark plug connection, you'll either get no strobe at all or an intermittent strobe. This is an easy way of diagnosing a problem with the ignition system and isolating wiring problems.
