He's just a whiny little b****. That's why everyone hates him. Simple! ;)

Of course, there will always people who refuse to recognise success and talent when it undeniable, for spurious reasons upon which I don't need to expend here, but surely not everyone hates Hamilton.
In fact Lewis Hamilton has more followers on social media than any other driver past or present; this is a sure indication of his popularity.
By all accounts, he is also well liked by the sponsors, and most of the public attending races.
This is probably why Hamilton can command a higher retainer than his rivals.
He has brought immense success to Mercedes in the last 5 years.
The facts speak for themselves. Hamilton is really the most successful driver of this decade.
He will certainly be remembered as one of the greatest driver of all time.

As much as some of us don’t want to admit it, William is correct. LewHam does broaden the fan base...in many circles, he would be the only F1 driver that people could name. Those “casual fans” are exactly who Liberty is (and needs to be) targeting for the present and the future.

And the fact that liberty needs to address this sort of people is the tragedy because the races themself obviously are not spectacular enough anymore so the regular fanbase is dropping out.

I think the traditional F1 "fan base" (God, I hate that expression) is ageing, and Liberty needs quickly to attract a younger public for the sport to survive .
Lewis Hamilton fits the bill, because he is not only successful but he also presents a lifestyle new to F1.
Hamilton may look weird to some, outrageous to others, effeminate to a fringe, but his unconventional personality is what makes people take interest
They come to watch their idol who sticks out among other drivers; he is different, he is of mixed-race (look how that is becoming popular in UK), he pursue artistic ambitions, he dresses differently, he is acquainted to the showbiz, the rap scene, etc...
So, he attracts a new audience that probably didn't follow F1 before and is perhaps even alien to motor racing in general.
Lewis Hamilton, to be crude, puts bumps on seats and has enormous traction for Liberty, sponsors and track owners alike.
As for the detractors who attack his attitude to denigrate his track achievements, well, they are beyond help IMO.
If he had as much talent as Stroll, I could understand, but here we have a 4-time world champ and a sportsman with still plenty of tricks in his bag.

It's the reality of modern everything...

F1 is not unique in being challenged to maintain an audience...e.g., I understand NASCAR crowds are a mere shadow of what they once were.

Liberty is pragmatic. The most enthusiastic fans will watch almost regardless. This forum is proof of that. They understand marketing and are at least making an effort. Most of the complaints on this forum are about things that Bernie did...not things that Liberty have done...grid girls being the immediate exception. The races in places with the biggest check book is a Bernie thing... THAT destroyed the fan base.

Sooooo many on here have complained about the mind blowingly complex power unit... Liberty is trying to change that. Sooooo many complaints about no passing...that's on their shortlist, too.

I don't think that Liberty is perfect, but so far, I will take them over Bernie any day.

Those who are not able to differ between the success of the Mercedes team in the last 4 years and the success for Lewis that came with it are beyond help as well. Interesting that the same people are well able to differ between Seb and RB at the same time....
