I have been interested in adding a 360 or 430 to my garage but want to buy new at list price. Is this possible? It seems that many 03/04 cars are held by brokers with large markup over list. This is so different than the porsche market which I am very familiar with. How did they get these cars.
    Any ideas?

I'm getting the 2nd 430 manual to hit my dealer's floor. I have been on the waiting list since last year and I am guaranteed to get it at list price. That's the only way I know to get one at list.

Brokers get their cars by going in cahoots with someone that is lucky to get an early slot and wants to flip the car. It's been happening since the mid-80's in the Ferrari world. Limited supply compared to the P-bug world.

You have enough time to buy a 430 at list price, get yourself in the "interested party" list and wait until you get called to give your deposit and at that time you will order options you want. I got myself on the list about 1 1/2 months ago and I was told to expect the car for the end of '05 the earliest and maybe even closer to '06. There are no dealers taking "real" spots just yet as there is no option list on the cars and also the dealers do not know as of now the price of the cars and other info. The extrange thing is that I was told to be one of the first to get on the interested parties list at this particular dealer and a week later I was told that there were like 100 in front of me! I don't know where I stand but at least I know I will buy someday at list price.

That's your dealer. Every dealer is different. Some like mine only works off of deposits. I kind of like it that way. Did you put a deposit in? How do you know for sure that you're going to get one? There's no interested party list at many dealers. You have to put a deposit down and get a contract with a number on it. That's your slot come hell or high water. I know of people who have been on the "interested party" list at their dealers for a 360 since 1999 and still are not going to get one. Most F dealers get about 25 new cars a year. Shelton and FoSF get more and several other dealers get more but most dealers get abotu that.

Dealers favor their better customers (I think) and also don't like customers who flip cars (unless they flip them in the selling dealer's showroom and share the profit). I honestly believe the best way to ingratiate yourself with the dealer (no negative connotation intended) is to by a used car (likely a Ferrari, but any car on their lot will do), or a new Maserati, from them. Show them that you are interested, passionate, and willing to support their business.

If you are sure you want a 430, find out if they can locate you a 360 (or a 355). They will at least make a sales commission, and make it part of the sales agreement (in writing, if necessary) that the purchase also gives you consideration in terms of getting on their list.

This also gets your tail in the seat of a Ferrari, and life is short. Enjoy every day.

p-car supply almost always outstrips demand. for 360s and 430s, f-car demand will far outstrip supply.

get on the list and wait. you're in a good geography with multiple dealers - talk to them all.

    doody.

Buy a Maserati coupe and a spider. Not only will you get an F430 at MSRP, you may get a date with the dealer's daughter.

Hmmm, I think I rather just pay an extra 15-20K over MSRP for the 430.

Now that I think about it, if you buy a Maser coupe, spider and a quattroporte, you probably can get on the list for the Enzo replacement.

Enzo replacement allocation is done by the factory not the
dealer. I believe you need extensive Ferrari ownership history to qualify.

With the length of the waiting list and the number of improvements over the 360, I think that the premium on the F430 will probably be more like $40-$50k over.

I think $40-50 K is more like it although a friend of mine paid $70K over for a 360 Spider because he just coudn't wait.

I was offered $40K for my MSRP 360 Spider just after I bought it at MSRP.

Yes, as in most business's it pays to be a repeat customer and especially one who gets his car regularly serviced by the selling dealer where he makes big profits.

My dealer has acccepted a deposit for a 430 Spider and I have a MSRP order form.
