Is it true that on the 6 speed cars, there is more than one type of clutch used by the factory? will all of them work? I would just like to have new parts lined up before I do this work and I'm no longer sure what to order.

    Hi Michael,

Ferrari only quote one part for the clutch on all manual trans 355's regardless of year.

The part number is 157756 for the centre plate only (RRP €267+tax)

or a complete clutch kit (pressure plate & centre plate) part number 157754 (RRP €795.93+tax).

    Hope this helps.

    Rob.

I bought a reconditioned kevlar clutch and preassure plate from these guys for less than $600, and it worked out great. I did the job myself and it was easy, with a buddy it took around 3 hours.

http://www.ferrarihorse.com its listed under the rebuilt parts

Did you replace your slave cylinder when you did your clutch replacement?

Those .pdf images are also not visible to me, and I'm going to change out my clutch parts.
They come across as empty .gif images.
    Any help here?
    Thanks in advance, Al

    Tom,

If you don't mind a suggestion, check to see if your Acrobat program is opening successfully. I'm able to open the latest offering without problems.

BTW: Jeff Davison, thanks for reposting them, we all appreciate it.

Is there a different procedure for an F1?

Thanks Al. The files in the Jeff Davison post I can open but the ones in post #1 won't open for me. This is the way the shop manual should have been. There may be a few things that could be added like the proper alaignment of the weight marks on the flywheel and pressure plate and the torque spec for the pressure plate bolts. Good job!

From what I have looked at (limited) this seems to be very well done. Thanks for taking this on.

I had visions of doing something similar when I changed out the exhaust manifolds on my 95.

This may inspire me to dig it out and give it a try.

Very nice and well written description, really enjoy reading it! One question though, what if it was an F1? Whalt would I need to do to make it work then?

    John,

I suspect you may need to update your Adobe Acrobat Reader to a a more current version, and that will cure your .pdf problems.

I'm changing my clutch this weekend on my '95 355, can I use a standard clutch alignment tool or do I need to purchase a specific ferrari designed tool from Ricambi? I'm putting in a kevlar clutch by the way.

I'm replying to this old thread to say (a) thanks to RF128706 for the most excellent write up of the clutch removal, (b) here is a picture of my throwout bearing (note the very large crack) as a reminder to people to replace theirs with the Hill part whenever they have their clutch housing off, and (c) thanks a bunch to Ricambi for getting me the Hill part quickly and for treating me right.
