    Might even be a good idea to blow out the actual plug tubes (or whatever they are called) after removing the boot, just to make sure all contaminants are gone.

    as far as regarding my statements about the copper / aluminium issue; source is experiences and my mechanical engineering business :)

    And one additional tip; after removal of the spark plug extensions - I talk about 3x8 cars - it's a good idea to check, whether the tiny contact clips inside the plug extensions are still there.
    I read of one incident here on FChat, where one of these clips disappeared in a front bank plug well. The FChatter luckily took notice of it, found and could extract it with a magnet.
    Not a good thing, when this remains unnoticed and this thingy disappears deeper in the combustion chamber after removal of the plug.
    And it's true; on the older plug extensions those clips were sturdy and solid. On the current genuine spare part extensions they are primitive. Look like a lovelessly bent paper clip.
