when i check the oil from cold, there is nothing on the dipstick

when i warm up the car and leave it on and check the dipstick, it shows maximum

but when switched off and cooled down it is empty again

    is this normal?

does this mean i have enough oil ?

On the 430 it should be checked not only with the engine idling, but FULLY HOT. Seems like you're fine. Wait for another 360 owner to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure it's the same as the 430. Take care.

Really?? You need to spend some time reading your owners manual and less time starting threads. Please try using the search function located in the right corner of the 430/360 main page, it says " search forum".

    Here is a thread.

Only check after bringing the car up to operating temp.

No go read, read, read your manual!

This is why these cars get overfilled all the time by people who don't bother to read and just "assume".

It's a dry sump motor. You check it differently than you do a normal "wet sump" car.

G- We can probably give you some information in advance. Go to this web site and you can download a PDF version of your car's owners manual plus a factory workshop manual for your car. If nothing else, the WSM will put you to sleep and you can learn three foreign languages.

It's not that we're being cruel or condescending. If you had not bothered to check here or the manual and go with your first thoughts, you could have easily overfilled it. We get a lot of people who say they filled the tank and then oil blows into the intake causing rough running and blue smoke out the back.

There's a lot of information that you need to know in there.

It's OK to ask questions. It's just that this one pops up all the time either before they fill it or after they have problems.
