I have a couple simple questions about door locks. Miy '81 308 came without keys, so I was going to have the locks rekeyed. I pulled apart the door, and found that the lock was not connected to anything. I think I can see how it connects, but:
    1. Does anyone have a picture of how the door lock is connected from the inside? If I just connect the metal hook to the plastic thingy will I be able to work it manually, or do I have to get the electronics working?
    2. Is there another car that has the same lock mechanism that I might be able to find a replacement for, or is rekeying my best option?
    Thanks for the help.

yes, connect the metal hook to the upper plastic part as you can see in my pic below...but you will need a key to work it ;)
(electronics do not have to work to operate the lock manually)

    btw:
as you can see in the picture, I worked around a little problem...
usually at the end of the lock cylinder there is a small kind of ball joint which is pressed into a hole of the long plastic part and rotates a little when you turn the key

since this ball joint is broken off/lost and the plasic part seems worn, I used a small screw and a hex nut to renew this connection -
but it`s not a final solution because it doesn`t stay this way very long...before it pops out again...

so I can only lock the door from the inside by pushing down the door nob
not a real problem - just a little inconvenient since I usually open the door for passengers from the outside ... you know, old school ;)

any ideas to fix it and sources for parts ?
or directly to Bloated Monkey`s second question:

So I finally found someone to make a key for me - had to call 5 locksmiths before someone would touch a Ferrari lock.... Anyway, I installed it, and I'm having a time trying to get it to work. When the the little dohicky in the back of the lock barrel is not connected to the white circle, it hangs at 6 o'clock (see first picture above). It drives the lock down ok, and rotates all the way to around 5 o'clock but doesn't have enough travel to drive it up (only makes it to 7 o'clock). It seems to me, that the dohicky should instead be centered at 9 o'clock so that it would travel up the same distance as down. What am I missing?

Anyone experience the same problem as Bloated Monkey did above: concerning key will lock passengers door, but will not unlock it. The reason is because the mechanism in back of lock cylinder is connected to white plastic which hangs at 6 o'clock position. The key will only rotate this mechanism to 7 o'cloock position, which is not enough to unlock door. The exact same problem as Bloated Monkey above. Any suggestions.

I am going thru the exact same problem. Do yourself a big favor. Call and talk to Brian at Ferrparts. Tell him you need the little gray plastic part that holds the L -shaped rod with threads at one end. That piece holds that metal L-shaped part that is upside down in your picture to the upper left hand piece in your picture. The yellowish part hanging is upside down. Simply rotate it up and you will see that it goes into the hole at the top. But you need the keeper-hence the call. I am assuming that the one that is in the picture cracked and that is why the rod is now dangling.

Ferrar#7: I belive that rectangular piece that your piece plugs onto may not be long enough. The original plastic part which is threaded I think is adjustable in length (hence the threads) and you will find that the small rotation of the key is enough. IMHO Also, make sure that the plastic door lock button is not screwed down to far on the rod or it can't go down into the door far enough. (plastic piece with phyllips slot on top).

Thanks Crowndog! I have the gray plastic part that holds the L shape rod. In the first picture above I believe the gray plastic part should be rotated to the left, and than L rod fits through from the left. Let me try that!!

What do you guys do to keep the lock from rotating in the hole?

I cannot get the large nut tight enough to keep the lock in place for more than 2 or 3 lock-unlock cycles with the key. :(

It sounds like your fiber washer is missing, (see picture above) or you need to add a second one?

    More fiber!!!

While you are in there, buy and install a Keyless Door Interlock. No more reaching across for the passenger side. Plenty to choose from on eBay...Google 'Rec-11' to see the one I installed, it's a reliable standard that's been around for quite a while.

On my car, the keyed locks were very difficult to adjust. The strange angle of the lock/unlock lever coupled with the rod and lock cylinder make it a challenge. In the end, I was only able to get my driver's side to work -- I left the passenger's side unhooked. I have a Spal power door lock kit and a Viper keyless entry to lock/unlock. The driver's side key lock is now a "just in case" if the power locks fail.

It seems that the REC-11 system has been discontinued. That means it most likely works too well and lasts too long. But I like the idea and there must be other similar systems. I will look into it. Great idea. Thanks

When I had my 308 the passenger lock wasn't keyed the same as the driver's side lock for some reason. I took apart the passenger-side tumbler, played around with the little pins, and found a combo that worked with my key. It was pretty easy to do, but I probably got lucky inasmuch as the passenger-side lock contained the pins that I needed, they just needed to be re-sequenced if you know what I mean.

Not sure that this has any relevance to the current thread, but thought I'd share my experiences anyway.

Slightly off topic, but I used the search function and can't find a parts cross reference or a source for an '83 308 QV door key blank. Any suggestions?

OK, did some more research on the door key and think I found a list of parts cross references. Maybe someone could confirm:

Apologies for the tread resurrection, but I’m having a problem with my door lock and a search brought up this thread.
Looking at the first photograph posted; the disc with the little ball joint has come adrift from the end of the lock barrel on my passenger door, when the key is turned the disc now doesn’t turn to activate the lock/unlock mechanism.
I can’t see how this disc is fixed to the lock, there are holes drilled through the internal shaft of the disc and also the barrel itself, but using an improvised split pin doesn’t work.
I’d be very grateful for any help. I’ll take a look at the other door lock, but am wary of causing any damage to that through inspection and disassembly
    All replies greatly appreciated.
