I’m having trouble using the workshop manual to identify the cables in the center console wiring harness.

My car has a purple (or violet) wire that appears to have overheated—the casing is melted in a few places. I’d like to identify its purpose so I can test whether it’s still functioning properly.

Thank you in advance for any feedback and guidance.

Get a color wiring diagram from member Afterburner , if you are spark chasing it's the best investment you can make!

@afterburner sent me a complete owners manual and shop workbook, about 300 pages, it has some pages in color but I have not found a wiring diagram that looks like your image.

I will contact him and ask.
    Thank you.

You have the original manuals and workshop manual. They are not in color. The drawings I'm talking about are the ones at afterburner created himself, with color wiring codes and clear identification.

On a mondial QV wiring diagram (mondial t should have the same diagram for the most part), the violet Z wires are
89- parking light switch passing connector C7
128- wire going to fuel level sending unit passing connector C5
So, maybe you can identify that white plastic connector with all the wires on your first picture what connector this is C5 or C7.

Thank you for this. I will take a deep dive over the weekend and hopefully I’ll get it sorted.
My fuel gauge is working fine however I am not able to turn on the driving / fog lights which I believe are operated with a switch on the center console.

    On another note:
The two lightbulbs that illuminate the fiber optics do not turn on, they are not getting power.
Could it be that I don’t have all components plugged into the harness?

At this moment I have not connected the A/C temperature and fan speed control as well as the cigarette lighter.

    Thank for any feedback.
