if you don't mind putting holes in your mats, you could also use zip ties to hold them in place

John, you got me motivated. Here's what I did... I bought a grommet kit (got lots left, if you want to try this). Then a small piece of thin speaker wire attached to a split ring at one end, passed through the grommet, then wrapped around the 6mm allen bolt. Seems to work great and is hardly noticeable.

I did that in my TR and it works well since the holes are very small just enough for the zip.

Mine do too, actually, but I left enough room on the wire for it to move forward slightly but without touching the gas pedal and for the rear edge of the pedal to sit at the edge of the indented area just ahead of the track support. I could shorten the wire a bit more if I wanted to bring them right against the front of the track.

I too got tired of floor mats sliding forward and causing unwanted acceleration.

    1) tie wrap around the seat rail
    2) punch small hole at seam of mat (exacto knive works)
    3) insert tie wrap, tighten and trim

When you want to wash the mats or carpet, simply snip the inserted tie wrap and replace.

Of course now that I took the pics I noticed I put the tie wrap through the mat upside down. It would be a little less visible the other way. In either case you have to be looking for it to see it.

i used the 1" wide spring-loaded binder clips from staples.
clip the side of your mat to the carpet and the rear of your mat to the carpet and you're all set!

Birdman sells a specially made holder which does not ruin the mat nor the undercarpet. Check out his site to see them.
