How to know if a shock is good if it is removed from car?

    i have a rear 360 shock and a rear 430 shock.
    they are off the car, also i removed the springs from them.
    i have no idea if they were leaking and now cleaned or they never leaked.

    how to test if they are good ?

    for one shock , I pushed it in and it bounced back slowly
    for the other one, it is harder to push in and it never bounce back

    is that how they were tested?
