Check Engine Light, can (will) be tripped by lack of cats.
got my gear from these guys, check out this F50 they have just done http://www.scuderiasystems.com/News/Scuderia-Systems-News/Ferrari-F50-Sports-Exhaust-Video-from-Seca-Competizione_18.htm
I just got finished removing the bumper and tubi exhaust, and all is ready for the challenge straight pipe exhaust. It shows up tomorrow, thanks to Ricambi for running one down for me, I can't wait!
I've never understood why anyone would intentionally turn the voice of Kathleen Turner into Fran Drescher.
More like the voice of Rick Moranis into Pavarotti. Well, Rick Moranis is a bit harsh, the car does sound great stock, better with a Tubi, more so with a Capristo, and then the total uncorked fury!
It is essentially what my Ferrari is in for the shop right now as well. When it comes out it will have the secondary system completely removed. Will have hyper flows and straight pipes right out of them. Less weight, redirected heat, should be amazing.
I have both of those exhaust systems. Never installed the straight through one though....but I'm told it sounds insane.
Here are some videos of my 355 with Larini decat pipes and Capristo Stage 2. Challenge exhaust is next! Turn it up! Those sound great B. we should do some twin tunnel runs some day soon. I just got my tubi headers and top end rebuild back from competizione, and this thing screams!
I got home last night and unboxed the challenge exhaust and it is a nice part, comes coated and is well built. The problem I realized right away is that it won't fit the F1 car as-is, the outer tube needs to occupy the same space as a corner of the F1 pump bracket. Luckily there are several inches of wasted space and you have to trim only an inch or so off the corner of the bracket. I reshaped the heatshield and covered it with a heat barrier for aircraft that will protect the pump worlds better than it was even with that inch gone on the corner. The last thing I have to account for is the lack of an upper thermocouple bung, that will be an easy fix. So, yes this challenge exhaust will fit the F1 car with minor work but it is not a straight bolt on.
All reving and test blasts did not reveal any rubbing or touching, and I just have to bolt the bumper properly back in place to be finished. The sound was amazing. Idle was so much meaner than the Tubi and the reving to a safe 3k was amazing. I should have it all done tomorrow night for an all open blast to work on Thursday morning.
I never got to that, the wife refused to be in the same county as the car with that exhaust. I ended up with the Capristo 3 so it can be livable at cruise but give me the same straight pipe sound when I want it.
I here you, fortunately my wife is used to loud vehicles. 20+ years on the back of my bicycle with loud exhaust Thanks
Any idea what the planned fix would be? I do not have a bypass valve anymore and need to figure something out by the CEL generated by the thermocouple hanging in the engine...
If youre talking about the one after the bypass valve it doesn't cause a CEL if left out of the exhaust. Just leave it plugged in and cap the bung. Mine is like that with no CEL.
Did you manage to have any pics showing where the bracket would need to be modified (cut) in order for the Challenge Exhaust to fit? ciao, SRR
