The exhaust tubes coming out of my TUBI muffler have become discolored from heat. Any recommendations on how to remove this ? Limited access prevents using a buffer as I did on the muffler can.

    Thanks,

I do know that Harley Davidson sells a product that is supposed to remove the bluing on exhaust pipes, can't remember the name, will look into it and get back to you.

if its any use -I use whats still left in the big tube of simichrome polish i bought years ago and strips of the shoe polishing cloths that you get in Kiwi shoe polish kits--it doesn't stretch and its not abrasive w/o polish on it--I have also used Nevr Dull--The cotton wadding thats soaked w some kind of petroleum smelling fluid--it works very well also but I have never tried to remove blue discoloration with the nevr dull---the simichrome yes--

I have been told by my father (an old hot rodder) that zud and bon-ami cleansers work very well for just this--they are supposed to be non abrasive ?? he uses the stuff to clean the film yuck from his windshield and it seems to work great for him--but never had the cojones to try that myself

Blue Job. Excellent product made for that purpose. You'll need some elbow grease but results are amazing.

I have used #0000 steel wool with a liberal application of Mothers metal polish on trashed SS steel to get the balance of corrosion, dirt and discoloration off.
Keep it wet with additional Mother's as needed.
    Wipe and repeat.

    - For really stubborn corrosion you might have to start with #00 or #000 steel wool.

I then move to standard hand polishing with Mother's for like-new results.
