I want to reduce the weight of my F 355.

Does anybody can tell my the weight of the
OEM bumpers rear and front ?

What's the weight of challenge bumpers rear
    and front ?
I think those were produced in carbon and lighter plastic .
Which weight can be saved by using challenge bumpers
    rear and front ?

    Who can help me ?

    Thank You

    Andi

Carbon/Kevlar frontbumper with 3 mounting points weight half the stock bumper. On rear i got 1/4 lighter. On the 348 bumpers the improvement is much higher due to the heavier stock bumpers. So the bumpers alone don't bring any remarkable difference.

    Reducing more weight,

    1. All out of the car without use, like books and other stuff.
    2. Emergency wheel away
    3. Toolsset away
    4. Lighter gfk, carbon, kevlar seats and aloy brackets
    5. Light seatbelt harness
    6. Radio System reduced to an minimum or complete to zero
    7. Unimportant parts of the interiour out of the car
    8. Changed Rearwindow to Lexan, Macrolon
    9. Get rid of fog lights + cables and relais
    10. Get rid of the A/C System
    11. Challange Bumpers
    12. smaller battery 36 AH
    13. smaller alternator
    14. Lighter exhaustsystem
    15. Lighter Mountingpoints of the bumpers
    16. No useless covers in the enginebay
    17. No powersteering
    18. Smaller signal horn
    19. Lighter Oiltank
    20. no metal covers in the wheelhousings
    21. Change electrical windows to mechanical.
    22. Challange taillightassembly
    23. No carpets in the car
    24. Cutout useless metal f.e. behind the front bumper
    25. Change the wiringharness to an self made race harness with only the important wires left.
    26. No adjustable steering wheel
    27. Change Doorcovers to a carbon plate to seal the door
    28. Makrolon/Lexan rear side windows
    29. Makrolon/Lexan side windows
    30. mechanic mirrors
    31. Smaller or no window wash system
    32. Smaller window whiper motor and only one whiper in the middle
    33. Carbon Brake Discs
    34. Middle subframe pipes changed to aloy ones
    35. lighter driveshafts
    36. lighter aloy flywheel
    37. ligther airbox(s)
    38. smaller 40l fueltank
    39. multi functional dash instead of the single analog devices
    40. Carbondash
    41. No shift gate
    42. Carbon shifter
    43. No passenger seat
    44. fixed headlights

I know several people wich try to loose weight to gain a better time on track. But somewhere is the limit but if someone has 120kg and go down to normal 70kg-80kg that would be 50kg thats much :)
I'm at 70kg 5kg to much for my size but i eat to much :)

But ok for an all day road car many ways to reduce weight are not a good idea. i wouldn't change the headlights or change the main interiour parts. Or without music on the street .. on longer roads :( I always keep the radio plus 1-2 small speakers :)

A good start,if you have the cash,is to get rid of the stock wheels and get magnesium wheels. They will save you alot of weight and make the steering more direct in and out of corners. Maybe even get titanium extractors/exhaust made too. That also is a good weight saver, but will cost you alot of money also. Its up to you,how far you really wanna go with it all? Good luck! :)

Try carbon fiber sport seats, original or by Sparco.
Not sure, but you can save around 20 kg with certain Sparcos models. :)
That's a lot in comparison to savings by challenge wheels - which are fragile and expansive.
With a Fuchs muffler you can save around 2 kg - in the rear where it hurts!

In one thread here in the forum someone quoted the weights of magnesium to aluminium wheels. It was only 1-2kg save on each wheel. I wouldn't do that at first to reduce weight. Only if the simpel things are all done.

I actually thought the wheels would save more weight than that?? I dunno?? Either way,the wheels, the titanium exhaust are expensive options of course! But yeah, you would do the "free" simple things 1st! Then depending on how far you wanna go with it,go the wheels, exhaust, carbon fibre seats ect....! :)

Does Volk make a wheel for Ferrari. Their CE28 is AMAZING at 13 lbs for a 17" wheel=less weight overall but more importantly less unsprung weight and less rotational mass. Replace power seats; kevlar more a marketing tool than worth weight/$. Small battery, no spare or brackets, low fuel level are quick and easy.
