O.k. - so it's time to refuel my new F8. I thought it would be simple (i.e. no gas cap to unscrew). I open the gas door and place the fill nozzle into the filler neck pushing against the pressure cap. I start to fill the tank and the nozzle clicks off almost immediately. I shift the nozzle up and down and only a few cups of gasoline manage to enter. After 10 minutes, I manage to get a few gallons of gas into the tank and give up. This sucks. Is there a "trick" to getting the gasoline to flow into the filler neck at normal flow rates without it stopping every few seconds. I know there must be an easier way to do this.
First make sure it’s not a station pump issue. I find that inserting the nozzle a few inches works best. I have had this issue when the pump nozzle is pushed all the way in.
I put mine nearly all the way in and it’s fills fine… sounds like a pump issue with incorrect back pressure switch to me. Try another station. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I have had this issue on other f cars but but not my f8. Sounds weird but I flipped the filler upside down and it seals perfectly, instead of the bottom of the handle pointing down, have it pointing up. I know it’s an odd fix but worked 100% of the time on my wife’s FF.
Same on my Cali and 488, plus didn’t squeeze the trigger all the way. No issues though on my F8. Same pump. Definitely weird. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Also an issue on classic Lamborghinis.....the only consistent way to gas it up is to just barely press the handle and then modulate it by pressing further until you figure out where that shutoff limit is. The angle thing works occasionally (in fact there is a famous picture where a model in a bikini is holding the handle upside down trying to gas up a Diablo). It takes about 10 minutes to fill up a half tank (13 gal).
In CA my 458 will barely engage with the "vapor shrouds" on the nozzles so I add a grommet to make everything work. Other owners use the upside down method, but that never worked for me. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Im the franchise player and we talking about filling, filling man but we talking about filling filing man its not funny to me to but we not talking about driving
I do the same thing. Always works. Cali nozzles need the vapor collar to be pushed back slightly to enable the pump switch. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
The west coast is like a different world to me, man. What the hell is that? I heard in Oregon, or Utah (can't remember which), you aren't even allowed to pump your own gas at most places.
I’ve had the same issue with my F8 since delivery last year- aug 22. Spoke to my Ferrari dealer about it and he was aware of some F8 owners -not all- being affected by this. He has given me some tips on how to improve or lessen the problem. I’ve tried it a few times, however not all perfect but much quicker than before. - Put the nozzle about half way in - Turn the fueling head towards 8 o’clock - Keep the gas trigger about 3/4 of the way. (Don’t compress the trigger completely.) After a couple of times you get the hang of it. Works for me
Mine has been fine. I stuck it in all the way, pull and lock trigger and it only kicks off when full. Voila Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
