I am just planing to change all my AC hoses while motor and dashboard are out (regular air conditioning with one single evaporator). There are quite a few cables and hoses tightly fit in the right fender, sliding the fittings through the fender looks like a challenge: the fitting on the compressor side are way to big, maybe I'll be more lucky with the other end of the hose? As a last resort I could cut the hose, slide a new hose and let the AC guy crimp the fittings directly in the engine bay, but Is there any solution more elegant?

Keep us informed on what you do. This is a project that a lot of these cars are probably going to need in the future.

You will need to cut off the end and have a new one built in place. It will not fit through, even with the harness removed, without forcing it and pushing out the fender. Ask me how I know...
