So I had a catastrophic clutch plate failure which necessitated engine removal. Believe it or not engine is not that hard to take out. Maybe it took me 4-5 hours. First time. I’m hoping putting it back will be just as easy. While engine is out there’s couple things you should do while in there. First change starter solenoid and then change crank sensor. I swear I scratch my head how they thought that would be a perfect place to put sensor. On top of bellhousing where there’s no access

First get car on a lift. Both a four post and a two post work. But you’ll definitely need more headroom on the 4 post lift because engine needs to be lifted that much higher

first drain the oil. Use a 10mm hex

Next it’s time to remove engine lid. Mark off exact location so you don’t have to adjust later. The engine lid is held by 2 10mm bolts on each side. Also disconnect the 3rd brake light connection on driver side. Undo the hood struts. Just use a pick and pop out the lock. Then just pull off the strut from the ball

after this is how it should like like without engine cover and deck lid. Engine looks a lot easier to work on now

With muffler out of the way time to undo coolant connections and drain coolant. This is where it gets nasty. There are two radiators one on each side. From underneath there are two plastic drain plugs (why oh why) that will definitely break as you try to undo them. Be prepared. If they brake radiator must be pulled. Not the hardest just a bit pain in the ass

Now that gives you access to the last bracket that holds intake cover to thermostat housing. It’s held by a 10mm bolt and 2 5mm hex bolts. On passenger side one of the hex bolts hold ignition wires in place

now you can remove lower coolant pipe

Down the middle of intake there are 3 13mm nuts that hold manifold in place. Undo those bolts and disconnect the vacuum lines. 1 on driver side 2 on passenger side. Also undo the white connector in front of manifold that goes to crank sensor. Awesome engineering on this part. Cannot access this sensor without either taking half engine apart or by pulling motor . Lift off manifold. Be prepared it’s a little heavy

You can undo cap and wires if you want to at this point. Not really necessary but there’s 3 screws that hold cap in place and a few 10mm screws where there’s brackets that hold wires in place. Also undo the vapor hoses on each side where
