How to remove secondary cats?

On my previous 99 I cut open half of the cat clamshell from the underside, removed cores, welded pipe in place so it was a straight shot and not two big open chambers. Weld back on the lower clamshell and its done.

For my 95 I built a new y-pipe.

 

The sound change will barely be noticeable ..... any HP gain would be difficult to quantify ..... even on a nice repeatable dyno ..... those little metallic cats flow fairly well .....

 

Jim, you did a very nice job on that y-pipe. UconnHusky did the same thing you did on your newer car. I believe he posted some pictures.
