How does it come off? I have to re-finish the gate plate underneath, so I nead to remove the shift knob, 92 Diablo.

    It should unscrew counterclockwise

OK, will not unscrew counter clockwise.

There is a collar at the bottom that unscrews from the shift knob and then the knob can be removed.

Sorry Ken, I was just going by memory on my 92', as my 91 currently has an aftermarket momo knob with the bottom collar. Glad you did figure it out.

No problem, I think mine is aftermarket also, it is contoured, not just a ball or rounded.

Those shift knobs are hard and chewy, so I wouldn't advice this. It's better to lick it off. If it tastes bad, put some maple suryp on it or something.

Look for two, maybe three small allen screws
