As with most of the aluminium hood vents on our cars, mine has started to chip. I was thinking of taking it off and having it painted. I won't have the car in front of me for a few days and was hoping someone could give me some instruction on how to remove the vents. How many screws hold it together, is it difficult to do, anything to look out for, are they allen bolts or metric screws, etc. Any tips when painting it, Thank for the replies.

If it's like the hood vents on a 308QV, there's four phillips head screws that hold them in. Take care getting them out... they're easy to drop because of the angle.

Are you talking about the one large vent at the front of the hood above the radiator fans? Looks like (on mine) there are four Phillips head screws under the hood holding it in place.

I have always been tempted to take mine off and repaint, but have never done it.
