New to the site. Looks like a lot of great info!! So, literally the only eye sore on my new to me 1978 308 GTS is the edges of the windshield where the targa top attaches. See pics. How are these removed to redo the vinyl? I see 2 rivets, do these have to be drilled out? Also, the seal at the top has been recently replaced and is like new, do I need to separate the seal at the edges to get the part in question off? Certainly don't want to rip a new seal. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

I replaced the material on mine years ago. I'm explaining this out of memory. You have to pry open the metal grommet. It is a 2 piece rivet-like unit. They are similar to the eyelets on plastic tarps and require a special tool to clamp them in place. I got mine from a canvas repair guy at the marina. However, I quickly looked at Amazon and there are some available there. They come in many sizes.
I recovered the part with leather instead of vinyl and has held out pretty well. I always seem to miss lining up the hole when putting the top on by myself. Hence causing the scuffing. I can't remember how the whole section is removed from the windshield though. My car is stored in my remote garage, so I can't look right now. Are there not tiny phillips screws holding it on?

Thanks for the info on that metal grommet. There are two small rivets on the inside section that I’m guessing I have to drill out. Wish they were just little Philips screws but nope.
