How to remove turn indicators off steering wheel ?

... on a 488, but I suppose other models are similar.
The issue is that (although it's been, presumably temporarily, solved now) I only got the temporary indicator flashing.
Reading the manual, it should happen if one keeps pressing the indicator for a little while instead of releasing it immediately.
So the problem should be that the internal control (behind the button) stays pressed while the button is released; I have no idea how it works but there should be something that prevents it coming back. So I imagine by removing the indicator button there would be some way to ease the internal operation (I'm not sure how clear my description is though).
