How to remove variator control valve ?

    Hi everyone. I have a 360 modena 2000 and I had a P1530 error. I had to replace the variator valve in bank 2 as it was not fully functional. The other valve was also not in good shape as the wires were melted and I will replace later. Did anyone do this before? can anyone explain to me step by step how to do so with engine inside the car? I have managed to uncover the cambelt cover on both side and the problem I'm facing is there isn't much space to insert the closed side of an wrench around the valve because of the engine structure in the back. I will try to send some pictures of the problem later this day.

    Looks like it's just a core plug for an oil or coolant gallery blocking your way(?) Aluminum, easily stripped.

    Dr.Moe, eric355 is right. It looks like Ferrari wants you to use tool AV3058 to remove the variator valve. I did some digging and found that tool AV3058 is Ferrari part # 95973058 .If you thought the valve was expensive ,the tool from Ricambi is about $725!! I hope you can remove it with out the tool.I wish I could have been more helpful. Keep us posted with your findings. Thanks for sharing your efforts with us. Ed

    Thanx Eric for the info. One of our members, Greg, advised me for improvising and making my tool. He suggested a to sew open a closed spanner and doing it. I think it's a reasonable solution. I will do it and see how it goes.

    The job was done, but in brutal way!
    unfortunately, the part was a bit damaged because it was really stuck by an adhesive sealing material. I had to hammer it a bit :eek: to get the job done. So you either have the 500+$ tool or hammer it :p
