Ruined? It looks pretty clean to me and has all the right go-fast bits. If you're referring to the spoiler, a good body shop can clean that up cheap

Oh it is just the purist in me.

It seems that changing out the OE trunk material, rear seats, spoiler, engine mods, etc, etc takes away from the originality of the car. These are over 30 year old vehicles now and unmolested ones are getting to be a pretty rare bird.

I don't mean to offend anyone. After all it is your car and your money that you worked hard for. Don't listen to my rants; do what you want.

I really enjoy seeing vintage cars in the original configuration. Now for me I enjoy having an original example and doing my best to keep my cars that way. I have a few cars that are as new and as original as you can get, but it is what I enjoy.

If you like modifying yours then go for it. Just ignore this anal retentive idiot.

I've read that GT4s are good track cars-I'm in his area and I may check it out since originality is not my primary concern.

I'm interested; the spoiler would have to go and euro bumpers added..

Question:how much HP would those mods add???

S/W the seller of the car. Nice guy and this is his second 308GT4; his first is a full blown racecar that is not streetable, this was to be the "street driver" for him and his wife (hence the a/c) but he is selling for something "more civilized". Seller is a mechanic and this was a car he slowly worked on over time. I had to ask him about the wing and he did it because the car was too wedgy a la TR-7 for his tastes....

I'll let you guys know more when I see it in the flesh....

I like it. The spoiler is too small. If you are going to put a spoiler on a GT4, it needs to be big and obnoxious like the one on a Countach!! I think other than the lame spoiler, this is actually a great car. Look at all the engine work done on it, and anyone that puts a picture of the UNDERSIDE of the car on the ad is a serious Ferrari guy!!

I'm sorry but that wing has got to go! They actually did a good job with it not really to excessive but it is still way to "ricer". You know because of that this car may go for a good price...those of you in the market take note.

I think I'm a purist too! That must be why I never change my oil - I just hate to go aftermarket! -m :)

    In my profile pic.
Agreed that the wing doesn't really work, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and cheque book holder.

The trouble with GT4's is that they were made for a different era, at their time they were quick, there were no speed control bumps all over the place, the roads were less crowded, petrol was plentiful and cheap etc.. etc.. etc.. BUT
these days the new motorised shopping trolleys like VWs, Renaults etc.. are all faster, the road is littered with bumps designed to shatter 30 year old suspension, petrol costs a pound a litre, non ABS cars are seriously at risk from hammering into something that can stop on a sixpence.
I love my GT4, but as my daily runner I have had to make it suitable for life in the 21st century.
The old wheels/tyres were a nightmare in slow moving traffic, pot holed roads and over speed bumps, my new 18" rims take everything in their stride. the ICE and amps, make my regular 400 mile commutes across the UK (Heathrow to Ipswich and back) enjoyable (I love that motors noise BUT it can be a bit wearing on the ears). The new ignition has replaced the outdated mechanical mess of coils, points and suppressors now I actually have fuel economy (well some anyway) and awesome performance on tap.

If these cars were to remain as museum relics then I would agree on originality, but most are not.

I'm a fussier purist than most, but this really isn't bad at all. Yes, the "very small penis" rear spoiler and safety-scissors steering wheel have to go right away, and the luggage compartment replacing the rear seats looks like it was done by the local high school wood shop class, but rest of it sounds just like what needs to be done: Bring the engine up to Euro spec and stick some modern rubber on it.

It not nearly even one twentieth the excresance this _thing_ is:

I'll suggest one would get a better return on their compensation dollar by turbocharging and nitrous rigging their mother's Isuzu coupe.
