Guys, sorry, I think I ask more than my fair share of dumb questions! Can anybody tell me how to select the correct coolant system pressure tester for my 1977 308? I phoned around a bit today, and they cost a bundle here, so I'm thinking of ordering one off eBay. I guess I have to have some sense of whether or not the item's going to attach to coolant reservoir without difficulty, thus the question. In other words, what's the specification for the coupling that will more-or-less guarantee that I'll be able to use the tool? Could it be, just for once, that there's something standard about a 308?

It is an old fashion twist on bayonet type of coolant cap. The standard tester from Napa Autoparts fits perfectly, but it is a bit pricey. The testere comes with a catalog that tells you which other fitting options you need to buy for your BMW, Volvo, and Toyota which all have screw on, or smaller twist on caps.

This one time, the Ferrari one is the cheapo standard.

Sears and a few other places have the "balloon" fitting that fits almost anything.
