    DAAAYYUM !!

Sorry you had to drive that POS around town. :)

A few of us Piedmont folks went to Smith Mountain Lake (Virginia) for

    1) F1 viewing,
    2) water skiing,
    3) jet-skis,
    4) perhaps a few too many bottles of wine

One Ferrari even got carried home on a flat-bed. (Not because of #4. And no, it wasn't mine!)

Looks like fun! We had some fun of our own here in Jawja: a dinner/car show at Giovanni's (where a few of you have been) that included a Diablo SV, two Testarossas, three other F-cars (including yours truly), at least a dozen Lotuses, a slew of 911s, a mid-60s "fuelie" Corvette, a V-12 E-type, an NSX, some nice Cobra replicas, and even a Noble! Photos will appear on the South Central forum in a few days.

I'd like to thank Charles for the hospitality and the rides on his cars. The F1 GP was fun to watch but the "inspired" driving in the countryside was even better.
No need to say that I had the pedal to the metal many times, trying to keep up... but I ate a lot of dust anyway! The old lady made it back home to Columbia today: I think she liked the workout, after endless months and months in bodyshops and on jackstands.

    grazie ancora Charles,

    Luca

Jeremy, did you have that BA go'tee today, or did your wife make you shave it. Maybe it was penciled in for that tough guy look in the VT!

I was fortunate enough to be a part of this action packed day, and as you can see, we had a great time!!! I'm actually the one driving the 355 Spider, while my brother Danny was taking the pics. Thanks again Charles, it was quite an adventure. I know that my brother is going to remember this for a long time, as will I.

    Thanks a million!

Yeah Daniel that car is well......perfect!! I've really enjoyed driving the Ferrari's, but wheeeeeew the Diablo is in another league!! Of course I've not driven a 12cyl F-car.

Susie and I had a great time as well - We're glad everyone was able to come and have a good time.

Thanks to Jeremy for giving Susie her first drive in a Boxster (her current dream car). I'm a little bummed I didn't get to spend some time in Luca's gorgeous 280, but I'm sure we'll get together next time I'm in Columbia.

You guys are welcome back anytime. Hopefully I'll have the TR's clutch back together and you can enjoy the different tune a Ferrari V12 sings...

I have been busy lately at work and not been able to meet up with Charles yet. I have been near the area quite a few times where he is at but usually something comes up and we have to cancel.

The Lambo sure does sound nice from the pictures though.

Guess I'll chime in as well. I've been to Charles' twice and both times were beyond words. He fulfilled my childhood dream of riding in a Diablo and he actually let me drive it as well! The last time we had a nice 2 hour ride through the countryside and town. I really enjoyed all the looks!
Charles is simply one of the nicest people I've ever met and I'll be forever thankful!
Can't seem to be able to attach pics right now, I'll try again later.

Charles, I'm sorry I didn't offer my car for a ride, but I didn't think you cared to step down from the italian finest to that clunky, slowish deutsche car!
Columbia or Charleston, I'm down there quite often, there will be a chance soon.

    Ciao

No worries, Luca - there will be time.

I'm just a car guy - I like everything. My family still has the car I learned to drive a stick on - a 1982 Volvo 240DL wagon - beige over brown, with a four-speed and button overdrive. 250k+ miles. Not pretty to look at and barely fast enough to get out of it's own way, but it's a car and I like it.

My mom has no understanding of how I can drive Ferraris one day and this poor beat up old wagon the next and be happy either way... :)

Gee Charles, thanks for comparing Luca's classic to a 1982 Volvo, a wagon at that. Man, that hurts..............

Thats like saying my car sounds like a trash truck who's throtle is hung wide open stuck in frist gear...

Charles, I don't know about trash trucks, but I like Volvo wagons: believe it or not they have always been "cool" in Italy ('80 turbos and later T5 were major hits), like many other wagons (that's why they sell AMG, M5, Audi RS#, Alfa Romeo, etc. wagons overseas). Check the attached pic of a 456 wagon, and what about super rare Shooting Brake Astons?
Memorable (speed wise) trips on wagons: Florence Prague on a 210 km/h tdiesel Volvo, including a 180 spin on iced autostrada missing a police car by 2 feet; Amsterdam Florence foot to the floor all the way (except for @$$# Suisse), A6 avant td (healthy 230 km/h), and many more...

David, are we going to Bermuda Run? I've replaced the oil in the Merc rear axle tonight. Still no wipers or horns, but weather should be Ok. Or do you want to drive your truck... hep, I mean 348?

yeah really why don't you drag charles behind the 348 with no ear plugs for a couple hours hahaha.

Charles go to Karl's shop because I think David will be down there today. Go listen to that engine awhile! Of course as he drives by on 26 you'll probably hear it!
