I'm talking about the modern day Cobra, one tested by Carroll Shelby. I thought before it was sold it had various things welded up so it couldn't be driven more than 5 mph? Did it even have a SN? Or was it simply licensed as "an assembled car?" as if it was a kit car? Anyway i don't think there's many prototype cars that end up in the hands of the engineers that created them (Theodore was a top Ford engineering executive, maybe fired?) ...he bought it for $825K in 2017 when he saw Ford was auctioning it and sold it for over $2 million after making it a running, driving machine...

    I like good stories.

Looks like Ted made bank on the car. It was not a road car when it was sold in 2017 and I doubt it is today. It does run since Ted & Ford were the ones who disabled the drivetrain in 2017. It will sit in a museum or someone's car collection for eternity. Based on the story.....the proceeds of the 2017 Sale went to the Ford Foundation which is a sweet way of taking a tax deduction on a "non-working" car.

The deactivation was probably a bit of a wink and nod.

The article talks about parts being welded and other means of disabling. Not impossible to bypass, especially if you know the car.
Cool story to go with the car
