Search should be working now although I'm not so sure what the tag search is all about. I need to still tweak it a little more. I've had enough starring at code tonight.

Rob, how about something like a Sticky on top of every page in a post, that has information like links and stuff. For example: Nurburgring webcam thread, I have to always go to the first page to get the link, instead it could be on top of every page.

    Tags must be enabled.

Thereafter, "tag words" are defined by a poster.

For instance, one could use "Stanley Cup" as a tag, and all results with not Stanley, not Cup... but "Stanley Cup" will return.

This narrows down search results to that which is relevant, and in so doing, greatly increases potential for user satisfaction.

Here is a thread about tags -
    http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250697
Note the area below the actual thread - just before the previous page/next page links, you'll see "Tags" - at the bottom of the page, you'll see "Similar Threads" - presumably, "Similar Threads" are defined via the use of tags.

Like the magnificent profile page change, it's all part of taking the site to the next level - more like web 2.0.

As a short term fix (I sent Rob an email on this today at 5:30) if you click your link in the email notification you can get in, then browse your PMs from there.

You can also go to USER CONTROLS. Click on "Edit Email & Password" Then click on "List Messages" on the left. That'll get you there too.

For me, I just right-clicked and put "Open in a new Window" and it worked.

You know Rod, pretty much the only thing I can think of is to create a phone library, and even a video library. I know we have the showroom, but I think it would be cool when you go into the show room and you have a bunch of sorted thumbnails to go through. You can click on the tumbs to see a bigger picture, or click on the thumb of the video and watch it. You can even have things sorted by model.

    Just an idea.

Oh yeah and I like the new upgrades.

when the "old time" users are OK with the changes you know it ain't too bad. :)

I want to work on photo albumn stuff, not just in user profiles like the new upgrade, but also each forum should have a showroom section with thumnails to open hi-res. thanks.

I miss the direct link to FerrariAds, but I love the "Members List" being right there on the menu bar. Can that stay?

I think there's a reason his folks didn't name him him "Rod Lay"

Can you imagine the cheers in the stands with his name on the roster?

OK, did a little work on the menu bar tonight.

Search is far left because it is most important. :) FAQ is now under there like old. I still need to add 'Old FerrariChat.com Search'.

User CP will now be 2nd from left on top bar because many important operations there.

    FerrariAds.com back on the menu.

We'll give Calendar another try, but it wasn't popular several years back. You submit events and then I will approve them for posting on the Calendar.

Quick Links now has the Log Out although it wasn't working well for me and I don't think ever has. New Posts is also under Quick Links. Member's List and a few other things will be put back in there eventually.

Paid Subscriptions far right just like before.

I'm open to suggestions about menu placements.

Looks great, it was too busy this morning, I like that you cut it down a bit to keep it simple.

I doubt calendar will be used much... I think it should be a "Photos" button, where you can browse all the sites photos in a gallery/slideshow view.

For some reason when I click on "New Post" it tells me i can't do a search for 30 seconds even though ths is the first thing I clck on when I log in. It will let me click it after the 30 seconds have passed but I have to wait and its annoying. Also I don't know if you are able to but I still think we should be able to look at post past the fifth page when we click on "New Post", like maybe all the post since our last login or at least 10 pages...

It is all about performance, every time you do "New Posts", "Today's Posts", or another search you are bringing back up to 250 hits that are each taxing the server so much. If we expand to 500 then it will tax the server at least twice as much. When you have 500 users on at a time it adds up. So by decreasing the 30 second wait or increasing the 250 hits that will degrade the performance of the entire community. We can do some testing whether the benefits outweigh the performance we loose, but my goal to have a happy medium. I find 75% of my browsing isn't around a search, so if we do more for searches, then we are hurting performance on the 75% when not using search.
