I like the way you put that - rather than saying "some tricks to make it better", you said "some tricks to make it less bad" :)

    I admire your candor :D

The forum looks like the stock style for these forums...aka not great. Update the style, probably flat or semi flat design. Nice and minimal.

What about a section on Auctions and Auction Results. Often after a major car auction it is days or sometime more than a week before the results of the auction are published. With Monte Rey going on it could be a good time to start.

Vintage has a section like this, which is much of the auction discussion. Other specific cars up for sale usually develop their own thread in the proper section. Also auction week or other big options get an individual thread, like I've seen in Dino or BB section.

Do others think it would be helpful to have a nationwide list of good mechanics (this occurred to me this summer during my trip in the 355 from DC to Lexington KY to Hilton Head SC). The rolex forum has a similar list for vintage watch dealers. To ensure quality recommendations, a dealer needs two votes from members of the forum. If others think this would be useful (and I am not just a moron who couldn't find the list somewhere), I would vote for competizione.

this is impossible and inaccurate to make a black & white list. each mechanic will have pro and con's. each mechanic will trend up, down, and back up again over time. best to look at recent threads for you model and if you don't find exactly what you want, start a thread.

Ban the search Nazi's! Or at least give them a time out.

Nothing hurts this community more than some know-it-all Nazi hectoring someone brave enough to ask a question that they should "do a search" as this issue has been dealt with many times and you are just lazy and wasting very smart and important people's time.

How about this: if you are not interested in discussing how much an oil change costs, THEN IGNORE IT! MOVE ON! GET A LIFE FOR GOD'S SAKE. But let people who want to communicate and share a community do it without your pompous know-it-all better than you attitude.

Yeah! And when they rebut with "when and where did he say that?" Tell 'em to Search for it. ;)

Prices constantly change and evolve so asking again and again is actually productive. Starting a new thread on timing belts brings no new information and leaves out a great deal of existing information. Bringing up an existing thread and adding to it increases the collective information and adds value. If that vast resource of the archives has no value then lets just dump it and free up some space. We can reinvent the wheel every time then.

And no, for some reason if I search for 308 timing belts or 355 exhaust manifold I never seem to have a problem coming up with more threads and information than I can possibly digest. I am no rocket scientist, if I can do it so can anyone else.

I do not wish a ban on anyone but since you brought this up lets bring the grammar, spelling and punctuation police into the fray. Every now and again I have one, it is their right yet it is wasted effort imo, because I made a simple keyboard mistake. I constantly see more grammar, spelling and punctuation errors made by long standing members who are much more educated than I, yet since they own a Ferrari nothing is mentioned. I feel that if ones point is made they should not be chastised or trolled by these 'self imposed police'. We are all Ferrari and vehicle enthusiast but the last thing I or anyone here need's is a teacher on a forum that should be fun.

    Just saying.

Gregg, is this directed towards me for correcting you yesterday? It was merely an opinion since you were planning on conducting business via email. If someone's business isn't effected by poor grammar, then it doesn't matter much at all.

Maybe just a little yet I now realize that you are just trying to help me and for that I thank you. My Southern slang tends to take over and that is where I fail. I should be thanking you for pointing out my error. I retract my previous statement and just say thank you to all who notice my errors.

    WHAT!!!

    exactly !

i really don`t understand why people seem to have so much trouble with the search engine

even I - as a non-native speaker - have no trouble imagening which english words or what combination of english words an american user would most probably use to find a specific topic

every time I try, the search engines throws out more threads than I ever wanted to find ;)
