I think a lower price for Platinum Subscription would be helpful. The price differential seems extreme for only picking up the "Talk About Non-Subscribers" forum.

Actually, I the the current thought process is to double it.

It seems we're 'still' getting riff-raff.... see your comment above.

Of course, then we'd have to raise the price of the Diamond level... it just makes sense.

    Dear Neurobeaker:

First, the ferraris :) The 348 with tubi or capristo is one of my favorite sounding f-cars ever. Looks better than the F355 too. Beaker happens to be my favorite character in the muppet show too, so overall no hard feelings with you. If anything, great taste!

Regarding profanities, I prefer the real deal, the unmasked reality and transparent communication and never could see eye to eye with people who feel the need to censor a natural part of daily speech. Same thoughts regarding naked bodies, commentary in news publications, tv, lyrics in music, posts on forums, etc. Freedom of expression above all imo.

Regarding the democratic ban vote system, I would have loved to be voted off the board based on the merit of my first post if the users so wished for my head on a stick - jealousy, the most unproductive and useless emotion in our repertoire of biochemical responses. I will still embrace my ban strike that you so mercifully spared me as I don't like special treatment, although I recognize the gesture and appreciate it. I thought I had quite a lot of positive response in my thread on suggestions for cars to consider, and most of the participants quite graciously shared their experience, opinions and thoughts. For those who didn't I don't give two ****s. People who pass judgement without truly knowing anything about someone are in my book the pettiest of the petty and have lost my respect indefinitely.

I have been reading ferrarichat for 8 or so years and have enjoyed, without participation, the many flamewars over those years (I believe they arise from a passion for the topic more often than not). Say what you want about the value of keeping a board civilized, but differences of opinion can be both healthy and enjoyable. I also think that it can educate people. There are many examples of "conversation environments" where "opinions" are treated with equal respect to the truth, and I fail to see the value in that. I like facts and objective conclusions in matters of subjective perception such as visual and sonic aesthetics, which brings me back around to the 488:

It is an objective fact that the car simply does not sound as good as previous ferrari's - because it can't. The technical limitations imposed by the turbo design directly affect the tune of the whistle. Just like it's an objective irrefutable fact that Mozart was a better composer than Kanye West, so is it a fact that a turbocharged engine will never sound as good as an NA one. The future is an electric/NA hybrid, and ferrari would have been smart to fit the 488 with this, had it been financially viable, which - to my knowledge - it isn't quite yet. Therefore I am happy to observe that there are enough tonedeaf people in the world that buy the 488, and keep the money rolling in to our friends in maranello, so that the next iteration of entry level f-cars can sport the full package from looks to sound.

    :)

I can appreciate that viewpoint, but the site standard is to be family friendly. There are quite a few Ferrari-owning members with kids who also have accounts on here.

It wasn't jealousy, it was disbelief. Generally, the folks who thought you were a kid are verified Ferrari owners. We've had numerous examples of kids coming on and using their first posts to compare very different examples of cars (Mercedes to Aston Martin to Bentley to Ferrari to Lamborghini to Audi to Rolls-Royce to BMW, etc) and pretending to shop for them to elicit responses. This tactic tends to get people's backs up, and they'd be perfectly happy to discuss cars with kids if they just came out and said they were just wanting to talk about cars - I know, because I'm not yet a Ferrari owner and people are very happy to talk to me about the 348 or any other Ferrari.

Anyway, that was the concern. I think it was addressed and is no longer an issue. ;)

A valid discussion on the 488, but don't expect everyone to agree with you. I'm a scientist and even scientists who try to objectively look at the same experimental data can sometimes come to different conclusions about what it means - all academically referenced and coherently argued. When more than one school of thought exists, it'll be up to you to determine for yourself which viewpoint you find the most logical - truth and fact aren't always clear cut.

The business of exotic cars is far from objective, particularly where Ferrari is concerned. It's a marque of long and passionate history that is difficult for those who love it to discuss objectively. Hoping for universal consensus on any point is not realistic.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Wait...there is a Diamond?!! ...and that's Mr. Riff-raff thank you very much. :)

    Ya know, I was thinking...

One thing I'd really like to happen, but suspect it may be a technical nightmare, is to not 'mark' everything, everywhere as 'read' when logging out. I come & go, or get timed out and often miss stuff as a result.

    :)

I follow you and respect your stance :) also, regarding kids/family it never struck me that this forum boasted any demographic beyond the rude, entitled and abrasive generation that I belong to. Fair point ✌️ Cheers!

Don't know if it this is possible, but how about a Ferrari (RACE) stock ticker somewhere on the top of the screen (maybe the Welcome box area?)?

I'd suggest that you post instructions or FAQs on how to use the site. I find it rather user unfriendly.

About every 6 weeks or so there is a thread in one forum or another about missing sent PMs. Sometimes in the excitement of correspondence, one forgets to check the little box at the bottom; I've done it several times myself.

How about having the "Save Sent emails" box already checked by default, or moving the box up to the top (if checked-default not possible) where it will be better seen?

Yes- seen it before. The check doesn't seem to take hold for me. Is there a "save" somewhere I'm missing?

Never mind. Finally see the Save Changes at the bottom of CP. Duh?????

I work in the media, and I have huge respect for Fchat. To become the predominant media for anything is an amazing achievement, and kudos to Rob and your colleagues for that. It's a board full of knowledge and lots of smart people (and some less smart ones, but that's life).

I don't know your demographic breakdown but it seems overwhelmingly North American, specifically US. Not surprising given the board's origin, demographics, etc and many of the greatest board members are American. But, a drive to gain more users and sponsors from Ferrari's other main markets might result in a snowball effect of new recruits (users like users like them) without compromising the core American base, adding value. Language may be a challenge but not in the UK. Many Ferrari owners in other key markets eg Germany, Italy speak English. China is the big challenge but - would be cool to tap into Ferraris biggest growth market via a technological language enabler. All possible.

For Rob, it could mean more business, a better community, and for us users, even richer content.

And everyone who can, should be incentivised to subscribe. It's so cheap, and we are Ferrari owners, or in the Ferrrari world - how can we explain not paying the minimal fee to belong to this club?

Ban the search nazis. So what if we rehash an idea too many times. Maybe I was not in on the original conversation. Maybe we learn something new. Maybe we are boring you. So don't read it. Move on. Go drive your car but just let us CHAT please.

Ban the market thread nazis too. Same as above. Get over it. We don't need a separate thread.

And btw what type of oil should I use?

Freedom of speech. It's what's for breakfast lunch and dinner.

    Have a nice day:)

Very hard to do, maybe by adding an fchat member video section on local car events? Such as members that live in the monterey peninsula posting videos of concourse de elegance at pebble?

I am aware of the rule, I think my continued comments about threadcrapping helped create the rule.

I did not disparage the poster or his offering. I think making an appropriate comment about the TYPE of ads that seem to be popping up on Fchat lately IS appropriate. Car ads posted by new posters who do not own the car. Products offered by passive aggressive members who do not seem interested in sharing information.

I am quite sure the poster and his offering are perfectly fine here, but I feel very strongly that if we can't keep our little community here honest and open and helpful, especially when asking other forumites for cash in exchange for goods and services, we are doing each other a disservice. By posting here it got noticed.

If you feel it's best to delete my comments I understand, but I hope the mods here will consider the same basic classified rules that other forums have, and enforce.

Whatever the merits of your suggestion, it belongs here under current rules, not on the sale thread. El Wayne warned you, you acknowledged awareness of the rules, and yet you still thought you had some special privilege to post another unrelated comment on the ad thread, rather than the threads suggested by El Wayne. 1 day ban.
