    I'm still having this issue
Viglink is rewriting the url to their page

    Windows 10 google chrome

Seems this is an issue on viglinks end they do have a fix

Why is VigLink rewriting my affiliate links / Why are my links redirecting through api.viglink.com/api? ? VigLink Help Center

All FerrariChat links go through viglink, but they are rerouted to original link. Mine is working correctly and I haven't heard any other complaints. Like the below help says, if you copy and paste the link it will still be viglink because it hasn't rerouted yet.

    Thanks Rob

You can see in this thread others are having the same issue going to a generic viglink search page. I get a monthly affiuliate from them so I ran into this issue also.

Just a heads up if others start seeing it :)

This is an issue with the 488 Rossa coupe that is for sale. It seems that half of the time the link works and the other half it goes to viglink.

First off, newsletters are great, as are subscribed notifications. FChat is a wonderful community with a lot of great people. Love it. But spam?

Understanding the website's business model - $$$, without an opt-out option this message is more for the vendor in the ad itself.

Today I received an ad from a sponsor. Although possibly unpopular here I’ll simply state that I don’t patronize companies that spam. Working in an industry to block this stuff, regardless of the quality of the vendor the idea of spam puts them in the same boat as all of the other garbage out there which is immediately directed to the junk box folder. Before an “@e.ferraritchat.com always move to junkbox” rule is created, as a subscriber can we opt out of these ads BEFORE our personal information is given out?

There is one simple link to unsubscribe at bottom of email, you could have also deselected admin emails from User CP before you got any emails. However you do it, just one simple action.

I did see the link at the bottom of the spam however it sends a request to the spammer, a commonly used phishing ploy.

that's so 2002, don't click the link if you don't want, I don't care. I told you how to do it. There is message at bottom that says "*This is a sponsored email for FerrariChat users that helps support the community." and "FerrariChat.com · 4100 NE 2nd Avenue, suite 302 · Miami Design District, FL 33137 · USA". not like it is for a blue pill, it is for Algar that everyone knows and FerrariChat.com sponsor, but Dale doesn't care because he hates Ferrari and doesn't have one to sell. ;)

I'm guessing we all got one. I think, in the 13+ years I've been here, there have been less than a half dozen of this type of email.

So, for perspective that 6 out of about 4700 days or 1/10th of 1%, give or take. Not really a lot, is it? And not really a hardship either.

Don't want emails from Fchat, add them to your spam filter and poof, gone forever.

Look, Fchat is part of a big company now, and they're EVEN MORE profit driven than Rob., so we're bound to see some small changes.

This one is really a tempest in a teapot. If they start coming in every month, or heaven forbid, once a week, then it's a different story, but still not all that big a deal in my book. And normally, JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE pisses me off. :D

    Acknowledged – it’s a business.

The initial point was simply as a subscriber can we opt out. Using the CP option would halt all admin emails which isn’t optimal.

Is it such a big deal? Yesterday, I was sat chatting with an old client, and in two hours, I had over 50 emails turn up during the business hours. We finished our chat, and before I got up, said I'd check my emails. Being older, he was amazed, 50 emails, wow, he was stunned. I laughed, then showed him that only two needed even opening, let alone reading, and the rest were supposed 'trade' emails but essentially, all crap and all not worth even reading the sender name, let alone content. I just pressed delete 48 times, and read the two that were almost worth reading, before deleting both of those too as they were barely worth sending

If you subscribe to fchat, and get an a email from a sponsor, there is a slight possibility that one day, you'll think 'great, I'll file that for when I need one/it/them', so at least it's on a subject your remotely likely to be interested in them

Fchat is great. A fantastic forum of knowledge and debate, people know their stuff, lots of wit and very little time wasting. I spend more time on here than any other internet destination except my own magazines, and sometimes more, according to my devices. I work in the media, and I know the panoply of destinations open to all of us, and yet I am always here. (And I spend almost zero time on any other car forum.) Kudos to the founder and everyone who helped.

Something that would make Fchat better, particularly now it is part of a bigger company, is to value its contributors just a little more. The nature of an internet forum is that it gives everyone equal value as a poster, whether they are brilliant or an idiot, and that's fine, it soon becomes clear who is what. But to ban highly valuable contributors because of a personal affront or a perceived slight or a minor transgression of the rules - would be like an Old Media outfit banning a good journalist because he annoyed the editor.

I'm an Old Media editor (in chief) and if I banned writers, photographers, stylists and editors who annoyed me, we'd barely have anyone left; my publications would be poorer; I might be satisfied, but I would hardly be professional, and I wouldn't last long.

I appreciate the nature of a board is different, but I can name two contributors whose contributions I miss and who are now known as Banned User. No idea if they have any desire to return even if allowed, but this ain't good management of your content, it's not good for us (your user-contributor-clients) and I doubt it's good for business.

There seems to be more demand for them, within 10 minutes of sending this one I got contacted by 3 other sponsors inquiring "we didn't know you could do that". Remember since day 1 on the emails I had at bottom "we may send a newsletter and sponsored email every month", but over the years only a few times were the sponsored emails used. Last fall when our partner ModernLook started sending emails every week without my permission I talked to them and they haven't since. I bet the rest of this year there are more likely close to 1 every 4-6 weeks, so if you don't like them just simply click the link.

it is because we only use it newsletter and sponsored emails, we also try to link the newsletter as announcement in forums every month so you don't have to receive the email.

we do have a little bug where deselecting it now won't help users already added to list, so you really have to click the email link. for new users deselecting admin emails will work because we haven't added them to the mail list yet and won't if they aren't 'yes'.

Ha! I don't hate Ferraris. I prefer to think of myself as being realistic. You gotta lift your leg high if you want to run with the big dogs.

I have a curious feeling you wouldn't take my advice, even if I emailed it to you, Rob, and that's fine. Fchat is a pretty good place as it is, and maybe you don't need it to get any better.

All of the great media properties of the past had a degree of eccentric dictatorship about them, starting with William Randolph Hearst..good genes.
