This one seems bad from a wind perspective here. Lost power at 5:40... batteries kicked in to keep all of the essential networking up. Made a cup of coffee with my portable camp stove and wandered out onto the front porch. As I was looking in amazement at a 40 lb planter than had been thrown off of the porch, I heard a huge cracking sound and watched a 50ft maple slowly come down in the front yard. Also noticed some projectile took out one of the divided lights in a wooden storm door. Nice.

We haven't even seen the highest winds according to the NWS... can't wait for that.

So how's everyone doing? Physical damage can be repaired, just hoping everyone's ok.

So far so good. Just waiting to see the actual storm. I'm wondering how bad the aftermath will be? Everyone stay safe.

So far up here it just seems like a rainy day with some good wind gusts.

I think all three of us are on what they call the "dirty side" of the storm. My power lines are now down, with more tree limbs down. Worst I've seen in the 18 yrs I've lived here.

I'm also much higher than average terrain around here and rather near the coast -- hopefully you guys will fare better as the storm moves inland.

    No Ferrari ride today...

Not bad - it must be on the downside. I'm starting hear some heavy equipment, for what I don't know. I still have power, no downed trees, etc. If it's a sump pump, then it must be quite powerful for me to hear with shut windows, rain, and wind.

We made out OK in Merrimack NH. Power was out most of the day but just came back on. I have a generator so we got along just fine. Our neighbor lost a couple of trees but thankfully we didn't. I feel sorry for the people further west of us.

Good luck to all of those who didn't get as lucky.

Did okay here about a mile from Fairfield Beach. Fairfield beach had some flooding and I heard 2 houses on the water collapsed into the sound.

Picture is Fairfield Beach Rd looking towards Reef rd.

No issues to speak of, other than the power is out. Generator is on, and I am comfortable. Cable still works too, so I have wifi. I don't have to use my iPad data plan. Life is good.

Woke up to high winds. Heavy rains followed. Looked out my front window and saw two very large trees on the ground - blocking my driveway.
Spent most of the day with a chain saw in hand cutting and hauling.
I couldn't find anyone to come and take care of the mess......
Now I have a very strong vodka tonic in hand and I'm in the process of grilling some Flinstone sized ribe eyes. I'm sore and tired.
    Tomorrow is another day.

We lost power for 12.5 hrs, damage to my H/W tank from the 5 inches of water I got in the basement after my sump pump did not kick in (no power) so at home as we speak waiting for the plumber to possibly replace the burner on the tank.

We lost power because of these pics at my neighbors house. The DPW was working on that tree pruning it when it when is snapped right next to him. I think he is STILL in the shower after soiling himself!

Just heard it may be a week or more before power is restored here. I just put some solar panels on the deck which are charging batteries for lighting, laptop, etc., while the permanently installed ones keep the network and alarm going. This is inspiring me buy some more panels and have a separate low voltage lighting circuit in the house. Gotta look into a 12v DC pump motor for the water supply, and I'll be living "large", 1910 style.

Service drop to the house is laying on the front lawn.

Spending a lot of time with the chainsaw lately...

I'll send a PM... might be sometime tomorrow as I'm really exhausted and still have some tree limbs to move. We can correspond that way... or start another thread.

Sadly, I've come to the realization that I've put more hours on my chainsaw engine in 2011 than I've put on both FCars combined. Something is so very wrong with that. Very sad indeed.

January record snow fall = trees and limbs down = fun chainsawing
June 1st tornado = trees and limbs down = fun chainsawing
July "micro burst" = trees and limbs down = fun chainsawing
August TS Irene = trees and limbs down = fun chainsawing

I've become much more proficient at chainsawing and still have all my digits. Just not having much fun doing it. I may just start carrying all my sawing gear with me at all times.

RI got through pretty good. A few down trees and a few towns out of power. My place got nothing but a bit of rain and wind.

We got hit really hard in vt. Most of the bridges in my area are out and a lot of roads are washed away. The town next to me, jamaica vt was seriously flooded out. There is no access in or out so it is like being on an island its very sureal reminds me of Stephen King's The Stand.

we didn't seem to get hit too bad in Brookline. Few trees down, roads closed, minor flooding, etc. BUT we somehow managed to lose power for 54hours. yeah it sucked. NSTAR just wouldn't fix our lines. I understand they were busy but there were streets right around the corner from me getting their power back up and they just seemed to disregard us.

Wow, even though a huge part of Connecticut is still without power (including my house) and major parts of the shoreline have been ravaged, I continue to be amazed at the flooding damage in VT.

I know Jamaica very well as it is on the road to Stratton Mountain. I can only imagine how high the river that is next to Rt 30 must be to have caused so much flooding.

Hope that help gets to everyone in VT quickly!

I live at Stratton mountain and the access road is pretty much the only thing that wasn't wiped out in this area. Route 30 going north is washed out and also going south it is washed out however they have been working around the clock on these washouts and are making amazing process I just hope to God we don't get any more rain.
Put jamaica vt floods irene into google and check out the different videos you really have to see it to appreciate the scope of the damage.

Just got power here. Service drop is lying in the front yard (pulled insulator from house when a branch came down on it), but connection is intact. Called an electrician friend who searched around and I should have someone coming out to hang the wire back up today. Never lost phone/internet thanks to solar/batteries. Definitely going to make a further investment in that hardware. (Peter L.: Still much work with the chainsaw today, but we should be able to discuss the solar stuff soon...)

    Best Regards,
    Charles
