How is this from a health standpoint? I'm not looking for massive amounts of protein or anything, just whether its semi healthy or not (amount of fat, carbs etc)

    - Banana while getting ready in the morning

    - Apple or peach mid morning

    - Peanut Butter sandwich for lunch (whole wheat bun)

    - Yogurt (low fat etc) mid afternoon

    - Handful of peanuts or cashews (unsalted) or can of tuna (if i'm really hungry) late afternoon

    - Steak or cheese burger (whole wheat bun) with some kind of salad or baked potato for dinner

    Thoughts?

I figured my lack of food at lunch is made up by dinner. Besides, i'm kinda trying to get rid of the beer gut that seems to have appeared recently :D

Eat more food in the morning and less at night and ditch the steak/cheeseburger for something like chicken fish or leaner meat. And just in general depending on your serving size it does seem like you may not be eating enough food. I'm sure you know that too little calories will cause the body to store fat since it thinks it's not getting enough food to replenish the energy lost during the day.

the best rule of thumb for a happy healthy weight is to eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch, and a pauper for dinner.

of course diets need to be adjusted to body size and physical activity, but this is a great rule of thumb. of course most people do just the opposite and wonder why they cant lose weight.

Your entire day's intake looks to be roughly what I consume by 10am. Then again, I do triathlon training so I have no problem burning pretty much whatever I take in.

Definitely have a nice big breakfast (at least 500 cals), you'll stay full throughout the entire day. Think 3 egg omelette, yogurt with granola, and a piece of fruit. Plus, when you take in that kind of energy, your body will rev up quickly and early to burn it and metabolism will stay a bit higher throughout the day.

Frankly, I don't see much in the way of vegetables. Vegetables are the best source of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and also good sources of protein. The benefits of vegetables are such that you can pretty much ignore the their caloric value, you can eat them until you burst... of course if they're drenched in butter or ranch dressing that doesn't count. Some of the best diet advice I've heard is to eat vegetables [NOT fruit] until you're stuffed, then consume a handful [literally] of protein.

Thanks man. The thing is, i usually don't have time for vegetables. I get up at 8, check fchat for 10-15 mins then shower, then prepare lunch and by then its almost time to go to work. Any on the go alternatives?

Try a V8 Chris, or, get the fruity kind that doesn't have the taste of veggies. The fruity ones are good from my opinion, or try some of the Odwalla juices. Can't really take health advice from a fast food junk eater ;) Good luck though! :)

Frozen veggies are better than nothing. Throw them in the microwave for like five minutes and they're good to go.

Cook everything on Sunday and put them in zip lock baggies. Grab and go in the morning.

I actually cook on Saturday so I don't have to on Sunday though. ;)

LOL. I can't tell you how many times I've thought about doing this.

The toughest part for me is cutting the fat off the chicken.

Chris, if you don't or haven't cooked much it takes a bit to get use to the routine. But once you've done it for a while, it's second nature. I'm usually done by 2 at the latest on Saturday. Some people get iffy having their food sit in the fridge till the following Friday, but it's worked for me and haven't experienced any ill effects. *knocks on wood* ;)

How do you warm it up? Microwave? Does it still taste fresh?

Yep. The microwave at work. Still tastes juicy provided I didn't mess it up on the grill (which I do occasionally). I marinade it overnight; i.e. Friday --> Saturday.

That's the only downside for Chris, but he could use alternate reheating sources if he has it. But it will at least be helpful with fruits and veggies.

Toss the fruit and don't drink V8........it is a sodium bomb.

I don't think you're eating enough. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? My daily intake is this:

4:45AM - 8 egg whites, 2 slices of 15 grain bread with peanut butter, multivitamin
9:30AM - handful of sliced carrots and banana
    11AM - turkey sandwich (6oz of meat)
    1PM - 1/2 cup brown rice
3PM - handful of sliced carrots and banana
6PM - chicken breast, steak, or fish (less than 8oz) with salad
8PM - cottage cheese with fruits mixed (sometimes I don't do this)

2+ liters of water throughout the day.

It's enough calories to keep my weight given my exercise routines. Sometimes I throw in a trail mix and I eat junk food about once a week, ahha. :p

Great diet - you're eating like a wild animal would out on the Serengeti. Wet > less wet > crisp > firm

    Suggestion;
    Have watery fruit before banana.
Toast the bread - converts sugars from bad [to stomach] to good [to brainola]
