Mid April is getting towards the end of the season for a number of places, and is definitely "late season" skiing, conditions for which can vary greatly, ranging from awesome to slushy.

    Check out the Hotel Jerome:

Have stayed there twice, very nice experience. Not sure of proximity to slopes but plenty close to a number of Aspen restaurants and night spots.

    Don't know about conditions.......

    But, I thought:

    1. Hotel Jerome used to be for more of the same gender inclined.... Not that I judging, just an FYI. Also, it's off the mt.

    2. Little Nell is at the base of the mt. with ski butlers.

    3. There is also a Ritz Carlton that I think is "ski out".

I've never heard any such thing about the Hotel Jerome... never stayed there, though. I have always heard good things about it. Maybe LetsJet stayed there during Aspen Gay Ski Week, when everything in Aspen leans that way! Can't remember what week that falls on, but there is a decidedly different feel to the town...

It's starting to look like early spring here now, not sure how the snow will hold up in April. Here's a web site for you:

Hotel Jerome is a really nice hotel whose only drawback is that it's not right on the mountain. I too have never heard about the gay thing.

do you want ski-in ski out?
Or is a shuttle OK. We're talking 3 or four blocks.
Do you want economy or luxury?

No gays at Jerome that I know of.

    We have 4 mountains.
What level skier are you and your party?

I'd be glad to help, just need more info.

    Thanks

Snow will likely be crummy in April at Aspen.

The only Colorado resort that consistently has decent spring skiing that late in the year is Arapahoe Basin, which is far from Aspen, both in distance and atmosphere and amenities. A-Basin has the best spring skiing, but is just about the polar opposite of Aspen.

As for the Hotel Jerome, it is a nice place, but I prefer Little Nell for the convenience factor. Both are top flight.

It is true that both times I've stayed at the Jerome, the hotel was hosting a large gay and lesbian ski group (not that there's anything wrong with that.)

It should be warm and sunny. but with El Nino, you just never know.

March and November are Colorado's big snow months...usually.

If the snow is bad the sports car diving is good. it's a win win situation. :)

Hi William, I would go first week in April at the latest. I think the mountain closed April 8 last year. Little Nell is the only place to stay. fantastic service, great restauarant (Montagna), cool bar scene..Don't know how good a skier you are, but if you prefer blues to blacks you'll be spending most of your time on the other mountains, especially Snowmass, a 10 minute shuttle ride away. but you still want to stay in town, where the action is. If the Nell is too pricey, check out Aspen Square, it's a block from the Nell and about half the price, very nice but not 5 star. PM me whenyou plan on going, I should be ther last week in march, 1st of April. Mark

Agree,I stay at L.Nell with my family at Christmas and end of March(for the last 4 years),best place in Aspen area for skiing (ski concierge, next to Gondola),proximity to entertainment and dining (walking distance everywhere)
My kids (9 and 12) voted Aspen Mtn as best for skiing every day, they were bored with others within a day.
At the end of March most of the runs are still great, base of the mountain (approaching Ajax Tavern and Gondola) the snow is usually very slushy and calls for extra attention at the end of your run.

Should we have a FerrariChat meet up in Aspen or what?

We too stay at the Little Nell during Christmas as well and have been doing so for years. We also come up during the fall and/or spring and summer.

Funny thing..I went to the 4th floor computers to browse the internet one Christamas and saw that the website the last person there visited was a Ferrari Daytona website

During Players Run 2004 and 2006 we went to Aspen. In 2004 we stayed at the Hotel Jerome, nice enough p;ace. but not at the base of the mountain. In 2006 we stayed at The Sky Hotel and the one across the street which I think was Little Nell. Had an absolute blast partying in the pool and bar area of The Sky Hotel. I think the Little Nell was more upscale, seemed larger and had nicer restaurants. Our group was split between the 2 hotels. Both were within walking distance to fine dining and a really fun club that we somehow did not find in 2004.
