The stuff about the car is indeed interesting, not absolutely sure it's accurate judging by their explanation regarding Suderia Ferrari though.

They wrote: "Scuderia Ferrari - This is the name of Ferrari's racing division, and was the name of the original racing club Enzo Ferrari formed in 1929. "Scuderia" comes from scudo, which means shield. In Italy's past, armored knights would fight in competitions, represented by a shield (or coat of arms) from a certain region or town. These regional teams came to be known as scuderia".

This may well be historically correct, (I'll check), but it has nothing to do with Scuderia Ferrari. Scuderia means "Stable" as in Horse's and is a Nome Fem (female noun), Scudo does indeed mean "Shield" but this is a Nome Masc or Masculine Noun, you cannot turn one into the other.

So Scuderia Ferrari came about almost certainly because of the Prancing Stallion, "Baracca", Horses are kept in Stable's and most of the Italian Race Teams used the same terminolgy in any case, it was just more appropriate in Ferrari's case than in many others.

    Seb
