    I have a HP #1115 printer. I just replaced the color ink cartridge and it's telling me the cartrigde is not compatible. It is the exact same kind and number that I have always been using. It is brand new out of the box. Has anyone ever experienced this problem. I guess if I have to I will put in back in the box and return it, but what if the next does the same thing. I'm lost.

    Have you ever replaced the cartridge before??

    Some of these stinking printers have very specific instructions about turning them on, or off, and then cycling the printer when you install a new cartridge.

    Check the HP website if you've lost your instructions.

    Yes I have replaced this thing probably 10 times in the last year or so. Never had this problem. I've tryed turning off back on. Checking the settings, can't figure it out.

    Some printer cartridges have a chip in them with a basic authentication protocol to ensure that they are genuine HP products or something... correct me if I'm wrong here, but I it's probably a bad cartride.

    John it's funny you say this because I just told my girlfriend the same thing. Even though I got it from a reputable place (Target) I have heard of blackmarket stuff like this getting out to big stores. I guess it's possible. I will return it tomorrow.

    As a last ditch effort - and i don't think you're stupid, but i've done this before - have you removed the tape from the bottom of the cartridge where the ink comes out...? Just wondering...

    Yea, I removed, but only because the first time I changed a cartridge I didn't-- I learned that lesson quick.
