Those wheels are so awesome that I'd consider buying them whether they'd fit or not :) If not, does the car come with them? lol

you'll need to take a measurement to see how well they will work. I believe the offset for 308's is 11mm so if you have a 9mm and a 7mm then these wheels may stick out from the fenders. I don't think the 8 1'2 widths will be a problem but you would need to check the 10 1/2" rims. Make up a little cardboard templete and see how it fits. Good luck

Anyone with better advice/insight into mounting these wheels up?

I am not sure of my offsets, never measured. I have a set of HRE 505 16's, 9's on the front, 10's rear, IIRC. As long as the offset is close, your biggest problem will be the tires you install. I have 225/50/16's on the front, 245/45/16's on the rear, and have never had any rubbing problems.

Ask the owner what they came off of. If he says they came off a 308, maybe take a chance?

I also agree with Steve, a test fitting would be highly suggested. OTOH, if the price is right, you could always resell them if they wont work out.

Yes, but with what shocks/springs? Not stock?

The rear offset is close enough that it would be OK as-is (if the wheel clears your suspension), but the front offset in this set isn't a great match (and it's in the direction that can't be corrected by a spacer). Shifting the front wheel centerlines outboard by ~20mm (+11-(-9)) might be something you should feel/test before buying, and shifting the front outboard tire sidwall out by ~24mm something you should see before buying -- JMO.

No, mine just has stock Koni's. But I dont think you could get your fingers between the tire and spring, its pretty tight. But then again the rears might be 9 1/2 wide? If the blizzard lets up maybe i'll go out and try to measure them.

If the pics of the wheels are the ones you are inquiring about , I would make sure they're 5x108mm bolt pattern...the car they are on is an E34 BMW and the bolt pattern is 5x120mm. The offset you just posted would be a great offset for the E34 BMW.
Hub size would also be a concern. The E34 has a 72.4mm hub. I'm not sure about the 308 hub?
    I hope this helps

The center caps on my custom HRE wheels are crap. The clear part turned milky in no time. The bolts rusted & the Al spotted really easily on the rims too.

I picked up my set of 17" 505s from a guy who had them on a BMW 535. I'm wondering now if these were the ones in the original picture?
I had to change the inner and outter barrels to get the correct offset. Mine seem to be holding up well, but I don't drive it in the rain and definity not on salty roads.

Did you use the original 308 bolts or did you have to use something shorter? I picked up 16 505s but when I tried to put them on today they seemed to go too deep into the hub and bottom out. The PO had superformance 16s on there so not sure if those came with longer bolts. Thanks. Very frustrating cause they look so good compared to the gold wheels on my car!

You need shorter bolts. My HREs have a bolt cover, so the bolts are unseen, so therefore I didn't have to pay any Ferrari tax for the right size bolts. I bought VW / Porsche bolts. I measured how long a stock bolt protrudes from the back of a stock wheel, then measured how long a stock bolts protrudes from the back of an HRE wheel. The difference in size is how much shorter your new bolts need to be as compared to the stock bolts. My stock rear bolts are 35mm from bottom of shoulder to end of the threads, and they protruded from the HREs 5mm more than they did from the stock wheel.

    These worked for me:

    http://www.allsprings.com/
Tapered (Conical) seat H&R Wheel Bolt 14mm x 1.5; 30mm for the rear
Tapered (Conical) seat H&R Wheel Bolt 14mm x 1.5; 40mm for the front

I didn't necessarily need shorter fronts, but figured since I was going 5mm shorter in the rear, I may as well do the same to the front.

You need to verify the pitch, size and length of your bolts, I have an '84 QV and am not certain if all years had the same bolt size, length and pitch.

You may also need hub-centric rings for the HREs.

Thanks for the detailed response. I think you are right about the hub centric rings. There is too much play between the hub and wheel.

That seems about right...the VW bolts fit, although I don't recall the sizes. I do remember the rear were sitting too deep in the spindle using the factory Ferrari bolts and made contact with the parking brake on the 328. I had to get shorter ones for the rears too.

I just put 16" HRE 505's on my '80 GTSi. I replaced aftermarket wheels, so my bolts fit. The back wheels were hubcentric, but the fronts were not. Oh well. I lost a bit of rear wheel lip over my old wheels (they were offset in for a 3" lip, these have ~2" lip). I'll finish polishing the lip later.
    They look great so far....

If you really want to go with a deeper lip in the rear, or front for that matter...I believe HRE may still have some barrels. Ask for Vince, he helped me out with getting a polished 4" lip front barrel for my 16" , 505's.
I may rebuild my 16" set one day.

They are a great looking wheel for the 3x8 series cars. They look good on yours.

Thanks for the info. They are new to me, so I'm gonna run with them as they are. I do want to put new tires.

You mentioned your rear wheels were hub centric but your fronts were not, did you use hub centric rings on the front? Thanks.

No, I didn't (mostly 'cos I just wanted to get them on the car).
I put the wheels on loosly and just kept turning them as I snugged the lugs, which kept it pretty centered. I've been over 80 MPH and don't have any vibration, so they are good for now. I'll probably get some hub centric rings at some point.

Hmmm. I definitly had vibration. Would you know if the front hubs are a different size than the rears? I know the outside diameter for the hun centric rings were 73 mm but not sure about the inner diameter. Thanks.
