HRE 547R offset and my F355

I noticed where some owners put 30 mm spacers on the back of their 355's. I have a 95 F355 spyder that I purchased new HRE 547R's for. They suggested that I review the fit prior to mounting the tires. I did that last night and noticed a considerable difference in offset (approx. 1 1/4 inch or maybe 30 mm). My concern was that looking down from the top I could easily see the outside bead of the rim, with the suspension not compressed because the tire wasn't mounted. Has anyone else who purchased HRE's or HRE 547R noticed the substantial offset difference? Would you consider this normal when you installed a 30 mm spacer?
