HRT recruits Hollywood designer http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/89034 HRT has called on one of Hollywood's leader design stars to help create a new corporate image for the team this year. Daniel Simon, famed for his futuristic car designs and who has most recently worked on the new sci-fi film TRON: Legacy, wants to give the outfit a totally fresh look as it enters its second season. "Being offered a blank canvas by the Hispania Racing and with it the opportunity to bring to life elements of 'Cosmic Motors', was something I just couldn't pass up," said Simon. "It's going to be an exciting journey as Hispania Racing evolves and grows and I'm looking forward to the challenge of creating a strong visual statement for the team." Simon's work, including his design for the motorbike in Tron, can be viewed on his website: http://www.danielsimon.net/ Is that's really what HRT needs to improve?
I guess they've just completed "How to get sponsors 101" and now know what a "corporate image" actually is OTOH, pitch them as the "hip, young" team and then go & get "Monster Drink" or WTF it's called - "The crazy underdogs" etc. They could be on to something Cheers, Ian
There using TRON as something "good"? Those vehicles were designed in the early 80's and updated slightly for today. What's the big deal there? Now, if you hired the guys who did TRON's design ORIGINALLY, now you might have something. Here's some of this designer's work. Anyone ever seen a 2012 Piglet before? When you press the horn, it goes "Oink, Oink"! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, exactly. What's needed at HRT is a proper chassis designer, a technical manager able to build them a competitive car. Even more so now that the 'Toyota option' has vanished. Employing someone (at great costs no doubt) who will tell them where to stick the decals on the bodywork isn't exactly the same, is it? It seems to me that some people don't have their priorities sorted...
Well, it can't hurt to have a better paint-job than that ugly concrete grey. Anyways I'm not sure they will make it through the all season.
I agree. I was all in favour of new blood in F1, but not at any cost. HRT is nothing but a painful saga...
Can you honestly say that you're surprised? USF1 spared us and itself a lot of pain by imploding early.
Same guy that is responsible for "cost cutting" like the V10 to V8 switch and chasing away legitimate money (car manufacturers) from the sport with constant rule meddling.
Well I'am right, Dave Richards was more than qualfied to enter F1, trouble is he wouldn't salute Herr Max..
Basically Mosley tried to keep a strangle hold on the sport, to keep him empowered, if you didn't whistle his tune you were out, I just couldn't understand Bernie hanging on to him for so long, he nearly brought down the whole F1 pack of cards.
You'd like to think that the sport is bigger than any one individual. Besides no one's allowed to stay if they hurt the bottom line. That may be why Max finally got the boot.
Right. Prodrive and Epsilon had more chance to succeed than USF1 and Campos (now HRT). Both Prodrive and Epsilon were already race engineering concerns with facilities, technical staff, that had a proven record on the track. When their entries were ignored to the benefit of USF1 and Campos, it was obvious that some tomfoolery was afoot at the FIA.
YEAH! They could name it something silly like, oh, I dunno, RED BULL or something like that! THAT'S the ticket!
I dont think the prostitutes knew this when they were whipping Mosleys I am sure they stayed all night.
that sums up everything i hate about F1, otherwise the sport i love, but that is the shadow kept cast over the sport which haunts legit teams, and causes fans to turn away :-(
