So I have a new Android phone and am loving it except for one thing. I have the friends stream and facebook for android apps and I can't seem to shut off chat. It seems that every time I turn it off as soon as I navigate away from that page it goes right back on.

Not that I'm anti-social or anything but I have friends who see that I'm online and start chatting...but I'm not really there, it's just my phone!

It is getting aggravating and I swear I've pushed every button on the phone and can't get it to stay off.

Anyone with help on this will be my new best friend!!

Or at least I'll say thank you!! :)

After you get that figured out - I'd appreciate a "review" of the Inspire.

Wax, I have the inspire. It's a great phone. Only bad thing is the battery life (which is the case with all of the Android phones with big screens). But even the battery life is manageable. I can get pretty much a full day without needing a recharge.

If there are any specific questions you want answered, feel free to give me a PM.

With respect to the OP, I don't know. I do use the facebook app, but not often. I removed the friendstream thing, since I don't use it. When I want to use facebook, I just go to the app and turn it on, then exit when I am done.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Dom, I wonder if it isn't the FB stream that is causing the problem. I'll try deleting that and just using FB mobile when I want to.

    Wax,

As for the phone I love it so far. It is much more intuitive and easy to use than the blackberry I came from. Of course WAY bigger screen and much better graphics and interface than the BB. There haven't been any issues yet except this FB thing that have bothered me. Even the camera which I didn't think I'd use much is pretty handy and WAY easy to use.

Getting used to the difference between a real BB keyboard and the virtual one on the Inspire has been fairly easy. I am just having to learn to watch what the "auto-correct" puts in there when I hit the space bar but I'm getting used to it.

Other than that and the battery life issue Dom mentioned the switch has been flawless. I haven't really seen the battery issue pop up yet but I'm still using my BB at work because I can't have a camera. I just switch the SIM card and away I go. I only get text and phone calls but that's good enough for working hours.

I was pretty much a dedicated BB user but looking at this phone pretty much sold me on the Android platform. I would suggest it to anyone looking for a new droid phone.

Let me know if you have any other specific things you want to ask.

I tried deleting the friends stream app but since it is preloaded it doesn't seem to want to let me. I did shut it down but can't delete it. It seems to have solved the problem for now anyway.

Oops, you're right, you can't delete it. By delete I meant removing the widget from the screen (Long press on the widget, then move to trash can). The widget is still exisits (thanks AT&T bloatware), but it's not active.

Yep I did figure that out and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the tip!
